Student Affairs
My name is Yasemin Fidan. I am the Head of Istanbul University - Cerrahpaşa Registrar’s Office. I graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Economics. I have completed my master's degree in business management. I began my civil service career at Istanbul University in 1989. Since August 2018, I have been working as the head of the registrar’s office at Istanbul University - Cerrahpaşa. Registration procedures are prepared by the Registrar's Office. It is carried out by the student affairs offices in our faculties and vocational schools within the framework of the registration guide. Documents required for registration are included in the registration guide. However, a Higher Education Institutions Exam result document and high school diploma is required for students who cannot enroll through e-devlet. In addition, students who graduated from high school but have not yet received a diploma, an original graduation certificate, high school diploma is not required for those who enroll through e-devlet. A printout including a barcode of the electronic registration document will be sufficient. The photocopy of an identity card, military status certificate for male students requiring military service, biometric photo is required. For some of our units, a medical report is required for the reasons stated in the special conditions of the Higher Education Institutions Exam. In addition, some students who are entitled to enroll in a second education program or those who enroll in our university while enrolled in a higher education institution are required to pay tuition fees. When choosing a course, the courses that students should take are displayed in the student automation system. The students chose the courses in their curriculum. The courses chosen must be approved by their academic advisor. Therefore, it is beneficial for newly enrolled students to get support from their academic advisors in their course selection. Our students can communicate with their academic advisors via the student automation system via messaging. Internal transfer can be realized at the same level, between diploma programs in the same unit or between diploma programs between units. For internal transfer, the student's weighted grade point average should be over 2.5 out of 4. Provided that the student has a GPA of 2.5 out of 4, having a failed course does not prevent him/her from transferring. The student should not have received any disciplinary action. The minor program is a program that allows a student enrolled in a diploma program to receive a certificate (not a diploma), by taking courses from another program within the quotas in order to increase his/her knowledge on a particular subject. In order to apply for a minor program, the student must have GPA of 2.5 out of 4 and not have failed in any course. A double major can be done between an associate degree program and another undergraduate degree program, or between an undergraduate degree program and another undergraduate degree program or between an associate degree program. In order to do a double major, the students GPA in the major program must be 3 out of 4, without any failed courses, and they must be in the top 20% of their class.
Students are required to attend 70% of the theoretical courses and 80% of the applied courses. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement cannot take the final and make-up exams and will fail the course. If the students have valid excuse specified in the undergraduate and associate degree education and training regulations of our university, the registration can be frozen by the decision of the administrative board of the faculty and vocational school where the student is enrolled. Freezing of registration means that the student is considered on leave during the period when the registration is frozen, thus cannot benefit from education and training activities, and cannot take the exams. The duration of the period in which the registration is suspended is then added to the education period. Registration renewal is completed when the student selects the courses through the student automation system, gets approved by their advisor and finally when they pay their tuition fee. The Registrar’s Office work hours are between 08:30 in the morning and 17:00 in the evening. Students are required to apply to the student affairs office at the faculties and vocational schools where they are registered in for their document needs. Students can request documents such as student certificate, transcript, graduation certificate, document regarding whether or not they have received disciplinary punishment electronically through the student automation system. These requests are received by the student affairs of faculties and vocational schools and signed electronically. Again, the student can receive the requested document electronically through the student automation system and reproduce it as many times as they want. The Registrar's Office is an administrative unit that coordinates the student affairs of our faculties and colleges to ensure that students' registration, admission, and all other necessary actions are performed efficiently. Our basic guidelines are provided in our legislation, regulations and directives. Conducting our affairs based on ethical principles and the law is our main concern. Military service postponement and cancellation procedures are carried out through the student automation system. A student who enrols in our university can postpone the date of enrolment for the maximum period offered in their education program. If he leaves or graduates from our university for any reason, the postponement process will be cancelled. As the Registrar's Office, our doors are always open to you. As the Registrar's Office, we wish success to all our students in their academic life and send out our regards.
