Public Relations and Advertising
I am Associate Professor Erdem Öngün. I am the Head of Public Relations and Advertising Department. I have been working in this department for about 6 years. My specialty is applied communication. Our department provides a four-year undergraduate education. The aim of the department is to train personnel in the fields of public relations and advertising, both for the private and the public sectors. It is aimed to train our students in a well-equipped manner in these areas. When we look at the course content of the department, basic courses will be given in the first two years. These courses are mostly the introductory courses such as Introduction to Public Relations, Introduction to Advertising, Introduction to Communication, and other Marketing and Business courses will be given in addition to these. In the 3rd and 4th years, more practical courses will be offered. Within the applied courses, courses such as campaign management and social media management are offered. The basic courses given in our department include Introduction to Public Relations, Advertising and other interdisciplinary courses. In the 3rd and 4th grades, our course content is mostly focused on applied courses. Our aim here is to enable students to take part in projects such as campaigns and social media management in the field and to offer them the opportunity to work together with other stakeholders. Our students have a compulsory internship for 40 days. They can also do these internships in the form of 20+20. Our students have an obligation to prepare a project for graduation in their last year. Our department has 3 laboratories that can be used together with other departments. Internships can be in the private or public sector. Our students are required to prepare a project in order to graduate in their final year. Students of our department can spend one semester at a partner university in Europe within the scope of the Erasmus Program during their 4-year undergraduate education. Thanks to this application, our students benefit from the advantages of intercultural education and training. Our students can find jobs in both the public and private sectors after graduation. Our students can work in fields and sectors such as corporate communication, press and public relations, marketing, social media management, advertising and design. My most important advice to the candidates who will choose our department is not to be satisfied with the content of the courses they take in the department, but to contribute to them in the field and to participate in activities. There are various opportunities for our students who will come to our University. In our school, there are clubs on various subjects where our students can participate in. At the same time, sports activities are carried out effectively in our school. Keşan, which offers many social activities, is also a rich city with its nature and natural sites. Known as a safe city, Keşan is also very close to the borders of Greece. Our students can go abroad whenever they want. There are two dormitories, one for girls and one for boys, where our students can stay in Keşan. There are also many houses that our students can rent by their own means. I don't think they will have a problem with this. We are confident that our students will have a good time in Keşan, both academically and socially. We are ready to do our best to ensure this.
