Hello, I am Işık Eğrioğlu Ertekin. I am a research assistant at Trakya University, Department of History. Our department was established in 1989. We started accepting our first students in 1990. In our department, formal and secondary undergraduate education, as well as graduate and doctorate education are provided. In our department, we have many courses on Turkish and European history from ancient times to the present. For example, we have courses such as Ottoman Turkish and History of the Republic of Turkey. Candidates can view the contents and syllabus of our courses on the department's website. In our department, we have 4 classrooms equipped with computers and projectors. Apart from this, we have a specialized library and a computer laboratory that we use jointly with the whole faculty. In our department, students prepare a graduation thesis as a graduation requirement in their last year and present it to their advisors. Students of our department can benefit from exchange programs by receiving education in similar programs at different universities during their education period. In this context, they can continue their education in the Balkans with the Mevlana Program, in other universities in our country with the Farabi program, and in the contracted universities in Europe with the Erasmus program. Our department organizes national and international symposiums from time to time. Prospective students can check them on our website. Graduates of our department can work as history teachers in educational institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education or in private education institutions by taking pedagogical formation and taking the required exams. Apart from this, they can work in museums, the Turkish Historical Society, and Ottoman and republican archives. We have alumni working in those places. Apart from this, they can pursue an academic career at the university by getting graduate and doctorate education. If history students want to become experts in their fields, they must do a lot of history readings. Apart from this, I think that they should give importance to Ottoman Turkish in order to use the archives effectively. There are many social opportunities in our university that our students can benefit from. For example, a few of them are our central library, where our students can continue their studies, and it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Apart from this, our students who want to continue their social and sports activities can benefit from many sports fields and swimming pools within our university. I think that the students will have an enjoyable student life at our university and in our city.
