Faculty of Seminary
Hello, I am Mustafa Kemal Koca. I am a research assistant in the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences. My specialty is the history and methodology of hadith. As the Faculty of Theology, we care about the development of our students as competent individuals in the field of Islamic sciences. Our faculty consists of 3 academic departments: Basic Islamic Sciences, Philosophy and Religious Sciences, Islamic History and Arts. We provide education to 650 students at the undergraduate level. Our students take courses from basic Islamic sciences such as Tafsir, Hadith, Islamic Law, Sufism, Kalam and Sects History, and Arabic Language and Rhetoric. They take courses from philosophy and religious sciences, such as Religious Education, Psychology of Religion, and Islamic Philosophy. Finally, they complete their program by taking courses such as Siyer, Islamic History, Islamic Arts and Music from the Department of Islamic History and Arts. We also make sure that our students make the most of their extracurricular activities. In this context, with our calligraphy and marbling workshops and book reading societies, we try to help our students make the best use of their time outside of their classes. In addition, we try to appeal to both our students and the public with the weekly and monthly scientific meetings we organize. We try to appeal to a much wider audience with TV and radio programs attended by faculty members. Our students receive teaching internships at schools to prepare for their duties in the Ministry of National Education. In order to fulfill their duties in the Presidency of Religious Affairs, they participate in some practices that we consider as internships such as Friday prayers and sermons. Our university has cooperation with many universities both in Turkey and abroad within the scope of student exchange programs. As our faculty, we care that our students benefit from Student Exchange programs such as Farabi, Mevlana and Erasmus. Since we support the vision of our university towards the Balkans, we, as the faculty of theology, have hosted many scientific meetings and symposiums on the religious, cultural and scientific life in Rumelia and the Balkans. In addition, our Rumelian Islam and Arts Application and Research Center, of which our faculty is one of the founders, has started its activities. Our Rumeli Islamic Studies journal, in which we accept articles from Arabic, Turkish and English as well as from Balkan languages, continues its activities. Our students can take positions such as vocational courses and religious culture teachers in the Ministry of National Education, as well as serving as imam, muezzin, preacher and mufti in the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Our students, who wish to continue their academic careers, can also take part in the academic staff at universities. We advise our students to pay attention to the Arabic education they will receive in the preparatory class. Then, we recommend that they evaluate the undergraduate program fully and train themselves in Islamic sciences in the best way. Although Edirne can be counted as a relatively small city, both the campus of our university and the historical and cultural texture of Edirne have the capacity to ensure that our students have a pleasant time. In addition, with our conference hall, library and canteen, we try to ensure that our students can live and breathe the atmosphere of a university without lacking anything. I wish good luck to the candidates who will take the exam.
