Hello, I'm Rahim Şentürk. I am working as a research assistant at Trakya University, Department of German Language Education. The Department of German Language Education started admitting students for the first time in the academic year of 1993-1994. With preparatory education, the education period is for 5 years. The language of instruction is Turkish and German. The Department of German Language Education also provides education in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. In the Department of German Language Education, theoretical courses are predominant starting from the first year. Starting from the 2nd grade, there are both theoretical and practical courses. Students who are in their final year take lessons for teaching practice. There are classrooms, language laboratory and foreign languages library belonging to the Department of German Language Education. In addition, each classroom has internet, smart boards and projection devices. Senior students studying in the Department of German Language Education carry out their internship practice in public schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. Thus, students transform their theoretical knowledge into practice. The Department of German Language Education offers the opportunity to study abroad within the framework of Erasmus mobility. In this context, our department has made agreements with foreign German-speaking universities. In this way, students receive both foreign language education and knowledge of the cultures of that language in the countries they visit. In addition, our department cooperates with DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and Goethe Institute. The Germanistic Congress, which will be held in October 2021 within the scope of scientific studies, will be held in cooperation with our department and Ger-Der (Germanists Association). We aim to contribute to the academic development of our students with the congresses we will hold. Our students who graduate from the Department of German Language Education can work in both public and private schools. In addition, our graduates can work in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, consulates, embassies and tourism-related public institutions and organizations. Students coming to the Department of German Language Education will learn German, an international language. In this way, they will make positive contributions to both their careers and their educational life. Various social and cultural events are held at Trakya University every year.
