Albanian Language and Literature

Hello, I am Esin Ömer Ulukaya. I have been working as a lecturer at Trakya University since 2013. I completed my undergraduate and graduate education at Istanbul University. I completed my doctorate education at Trakya University. As a teacher, I attend many courses such as Albanian Scientific and Technical Text Translation and Albanian Text Translation for the Business World. The Balkan languages and literatures department started to accept students in the 2007-2008 academic year. Especially the Albanian Language Literature, Bosnian Language Literature and Greek Language Literature Departments started to accept their first students in this period. In our department, we offer grammar, syntax, Albanian Speaking Skills, Albanian Listening Skills, Albanian Writing Skills in the 1st and 2nd grades. Then, in the 3rd and 4th grades, we have more translation-oriented courses such as Albanian Scientific Technical Text Translation and Albanian Text Translation for the Business World. Within our faculty, there are many books written in the field of language, literature and history, especially in Balkan languages. In addition, our students can benefit from many books in the fields of language, literature and history in Balkan languages, which can be found in the central library of our university. There is no compulsory internship in our department. However, in the 4th grade, our students prepare their final assignments. Students of our department can benefit from the Mevlana exchange program. Within the framework of the Mevlana exchange program, we have cooperation agreements with many universities in Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia. Within the framework of the Mevlana exchange program, our students can receive education in these universities. In addition, academicians can also benefit from the Mevlana exchange program. As an international organization, there is the International Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture, which is held annually by the Faculty of Philology of the University of Pristina in Kosovo. Our students especially show great interest in this seminar. This seminar, which is held every year, is completely free of charge, and the food, beverage and accommodation expenses are covered by the Ministry of National Education of Kosovo. At the same time, our students can attend the seminars as well as have the opportunity to receive training from the teachers there by participating in this training. Our students who will graduate from our department should know that Albanian and Bosnian courses were started to be taught in secondary schools by the Ministry of National Education between 2017 and 2018. Therefore, the employment opportunities of our graduates have increased. The department of Albanian Language and Literature at Trakya University is the first and only Balkan Languages Department in Turkey. At the same time, as Trakya University serves as a bridge to the Balkans, students here can have the opportunity to practice more Albanian. Trakya University has many libraries. There are also libraries within our faculty, especially the central library. In addition to these, there are social activities and student clubs that students can participate in. We also have sports facilities. As Trakya University, we aim to provide a quality education for students. I wish success to the candidates who will choose our department.
