International Office
Hello, I'm Ömer Inan, I'm in charge of the International Relations Office. I’ve been the director of the office since 2016. There are several different procedures regarding the admission of foreign students to our university. In the first option, students are entitled to study according to the results of the YÖS (Foreign Student Exams) made by the university. In the second option, you can get admission to the university with other universities’ YÖS. Thirdly, it is possible to register at our university from abroad with successful results from international exams and finally you can register with high school diploma equivalency. We give priority to the exams held by our university, then we make placements according to the results of the YÖS (Foreign Student Exams) exams held in Turkey, and then according to the results of the internationally valid exams. If the quota is still not reached, then we make placements according to the diploma score of the candidates. The diploma you will obtain from our university has also equivalency to certain other universities' diplomas abroad. After foreign students enroll in our university, they have all the opportunities that Turkish students have. Students can attend TÖMER (Turkish Teaching Center) for foreign language courses and gain the necessary knowledge on Turkish which will help them have a better understanding in their departments. Apart from this, our students can participate in all our sports and scientific courses and certificate programs held within our university. Our university offers the opportunity to participate in Erasmus, Mevlana and Farabi student exchange programs. Let me briefly talk about Erasmus. Erasmus is an exchange program that allows our students and staff to study abroad, do internships and study. As of now, our university has agreements with 24 universities, at the same time, there are 20 universities with which we are in the process of the agreement. Students can study in various countries in Europe. To attend Erasmus, the student must have a 2.20-grade point average and obtain a minimum of 55 points from the foreign language exam held by our university. Our university's undergraduate diplomas and graduate diplomas are accepted in many countries abroad. We have many Turkish and foreign students who graduated from here and continue their education abroad, and they continue their education in any institution they go to without having any problems with diploma equivalency. Currently, department by department, accreditation studies are continuing at our university. In other words, there is an inclusive general accreditation throughout the university, but the studies for accreditation of each department are continuing, and in a short time all our departments will be recognized with an accreditation system recognized by Europe and the world.
YÖK (Council of Higher Education) determines a base fee and a price ceiling for tuition fees. We are a student-friendly university. That's why we charge tuition fees based on the determined base fee. This corresponds to an average of between 4,000 and 14,000 TL per year for foreign students. This is still a reasonable tuition fee for Europe and Turkey. We can see that both Turkish and foreign students who were admitted to Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University fell in love with Bandırma after a while. There are all kinds of social opportunities for our students to experience in Bandırma. Many cultural activities such as cinema, theatre are carried out together at our centres which are located in the city. We can say that the cost of living in Bandırma is equal to the average cost of living in Turkey. Apart from that, Bandırma is not a huge city, our students can reach the university very easily from the city centre in a short time. We have both state and private dormitories for our students. Apart from these, students can stay in their apartments for a reasonable price. Although the university does not have an existing dormitory at the moment, we have a dormitory project under construction. When the construction process is over, we will have a dormitory in the university with a capacity of approximately 2500 students. Apart from this, there is a state dormitory right next to our university. There are also private dormitories and one more state dormitory in the city. Students do not have a problem with accommodation. As I said, we will put our dormitory at the service of our students in 1-2 years. Our university is home to 2400 foreign students from about 70 countries. The total number of students at our university is around 21000, the rate of foreign students has exceeded 10%. This means our university is in the 1st place in the number of foreign students proportionally in Turkey, and there is a good reason for this. Here, both our university staff and the people of the city welcomed foreign students and showed them all kinds of ease, friendship, helpfulness and tolerance. For this reason, our university receives approximately 14000-15000 foreign student applications every year. The popularity of our university among foreign students has increased tremendously. We receive positive feedback about our university through e-mails, messages and social media posts from many places. Frankly, it is very pleasing for us that our university is at a distinguished point among foreign students. We are happy to see both our foreign and Turkish students at our university. We wish success to all our Turkish and foreign students who will take the exam. I wish success to all our students by promising that they will encounter a wonderful educational environment here.
