Young Red Crescent Club
My name is Sare Kader Kaya. I am a 4th-year student at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration. I am here to introduce the Young Red Crescent Society. Young Red Crescent Society was founded in 2018. It adopts many aims adopted by the Turkish Red Crescent. More specifically, Young Red Crescent plans to organize activities in different fields with young people. These include many activities in the field of social responsibility, education, environment and culture. It aims to keep young people more active in these areas. Thus, the visibility of both our volunteers and the Turkish Red Crescent will increase. Our meeting areas vary according to the number of volunteers. If it's an event that many volunteers participate in, we gather in the conference hall. If it is less, we can gather in the rooms reserved for us in the student life centres. Sometimes we prefer to gather in the canteen or the library. Our number of members is approximately 550. We are planning to reach 1000 people with this year's volunteer recruitment. The volunteers mostly consist of 1st and 2nd graders. The reason for that is the students want to join communities more in their first year to unleash their potential. The reason why 4th graders choose to join communities is that they think that their first 3 years are inefficient or passive, and thus they want to be more active through social responsibility activities and they want to have a civil society background in their CV. We also have volunteers in the 2nd and 3rd grades.
We organize various pieces of training and various events in the conference hall throughout the year. We organize our events in general, on special occasions. Our social responsibility projects are indispensable. Apart from the activities, we support them when necessary and participate in their activities at the Bandırma Branch of the Turkish Red Crescent. The most comprehensive event we have done throughout the year is the coffee and treats we have made during the visa and final week. This event lasts for 1 week and we hand out coffee and cookies to students who study in our library for 12 hours every day. The most major event we did afterwards was the Çanakkale trip we organized last year. There was a very high demand here as well. We organize blood donation organizations twice a year. We have a large audience in this organization, both as volunteers and as donors. We also have great participation in the orientation presentations we make at the beginning of the term. We have a small condition for this. Our community is open to all university students between the ages of 18 and 30. We only have one small condition for our volunteers and this is to become a member on our website gönüllüol.org. Afterwards, we expect our volunteers to pay attention to ethics, respect and moral values within the Young Red Crescent. First of all, this community has made a great contribution to me in terms of self-confidence. I became more successful in crisis management. I think I have come a long way in strategic analysis and I deal with stress more easily. I can express in what ways this organisation enriched me with fancy words, but to be specific and clear, it definitely has increased my patience, my understanding and my belief that I can be successful in anything. I can easily say yes when someone comes to me and says, "Are you going to save the world, Sare?" I wish success to all students who will take the university exam. I welcome you to Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University.
