Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Greetings, I am Associate Professor Ümit Çiğdem TURHAL, the Deputy Head of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. Having completed my undergraduate degree in electronic communication engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 1993, I pursued my master's and doctoral studies at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Since then, I have been involved in the establishment of the electrical-electronic engineering department at our university, which was founded in 2007 as one of the first four departments. Our department primarily focuses on training electrical and electronics engineers who are well-equipped to work in various fields such as electrical-electronic maintenance and repair, telecommunications, and military industries, among others. Furthermore, our department is a key engineering field with signatory authority, with mathematics courses forming the foundation of our curriculum. Additionally, we offer vocational courses that are relevant to our department, such as high voltage courses, lighting, automatic control, power electronics, communication, and signal processing courses. The laboratories in our department include basic electronics, electrical circuit foundations, and electrical machinery laboratories. Before graduation, students are required to complete a 40-day internship program twice. Our department is also involved in the 7+1 project, which involves seven semesters of coursework and one semester of workplace vocational training. Lastly, our graduation projects usually revolve around lighting, renewable energy, high voltage techniques, power electronics, image and medical image processing, and communication projects, aligned with our professors' work areas.
Our students have the opportunity to participate in the ERASMUS program and continue their education abroad if they meet the necessary requirements. Our department offers a wide range of study areas. Graduates can find employment in various fields such as electrical-electronic maintenance workshops, high voltage workplaces, building inspection companies, communication technologies, security, and military applications. Although students may face some difficulties with mathematics courses in their first year, our faculty members are always available to help them with any subject, including math or vocational courses. I highly recommend that students in our department focus on improving their foreign language skills, which are essential for success in any engineering field and will also provide them with opportunities to work abroad in the future. Another valuable recommendation is for students to develop their own software skills. Bilecik province is located in a beautiful, green area of Marmara, and its proximity to many city centers makes it easy for students to participate in various activities. Our university is home to many student clubs and provides ample opportunities for students to find accommodations. We wish all candidates the best of luck on their university entrance exams and welcome them to the Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University's Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
