Department of Industrial Design
Hello, I am Professor Bulent YILMAZ, head of the Department of Industrial Design and a faculty member at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University's Faculty of Fine Arts and Design since 2013. I teach courses on materials and design principles, materials and forming methods, and materials and selection methods. Our department was established in 2012, with the law numbered 2880, and we have produced 121 graduates since we accepted our first students in 2013. Currently, we have 270 students and eight academic staff, including one professor, one associate professor, two assistant professors, three research assistants, and one instructor.
Our department offers courses based on design, technology, art, and social sciences. After basic design, basic science, and technology courses in the first year, we teach science and technology courses and studio courses in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. Our laboratory complex includes a hangar laboratory with three or four workshops and a computer laboratory called numerical methods. Our students must complete an internship for a total of 60 working days, 30 working days of which are design and 30 working days are industry. We also have graduation projects, where students repeat the subjects learned in our theoretical and practical courses in the studios and carry out senior graduation projects that include research from the market to the product, model making, preparing reports, and preparing layouts.
Within the scope of ERASMUS, our department has studied with partner universities for one or two semesters, with a total of nine students so far. Additionally, our department has been participating in the I'm Design event of the Inegol Furniture Industrialists Association for nine years, with participation from our students who have the first and second degrees of three classes. Our graduates have been successful in various industries, such as the furniture industry, automotive industry, ships, and sailboats.
Our students generally have difficulty with drawing lessons in their first year, but we provide elective courses to help them overcome these difficulties. Students are responsible for procuring their clothes, equipment, tools, and consumables they will need during their education, such as glasses, computers, drawing materials, consumables, photoblocks, papers, cardboard, and other materials. Students from outside Bilecik can benefit from an optional foreign language school, scholarships, part-time work, and international exchange programs. Bilecik is a peaceful, affordable city that is intertwined with nature. We wish good luck to all the candidates who will take the exam and look forward to welcoming them to our department at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University's Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.
