Faculty of Dentistry

Greetings, I am Associate Professor Evre Baltalı, specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Currently, I hold the position of Vice Dean at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Faculty of Dentistry. Our faculty was established in June 2021 through a Presidential decree published in the official newspaper. In January 2023, we obtained the necessary permissions from the Ministry of Health and established our training and research hospital. Currently, our infrastructure work is progressing rapidly with the support of our Rector Şükrü BEYDEMİR and our current Deputy Dean, Cenk KARAKURT, who is also our Vice-Rector. As a team, we are working tirelessly to recruit students and patients as soon as possible.The Faculty of Dentistry is divided into three branches. In the first year, we focus on morphology lessons to develop students' manual dexterity and their understanding of dental anatomy. Students work with various materials such as plaster, soap, and wax to construct teeth and improve their manipulation skills. In the second and third years, Basic Dentistry Sciences courses are offered, followed by Applied Dentistry classes in the fourth and fifth years. Our training areas at the faculty are divided into preclinical and clinical areas. In the preclinical area, we have plaster laboratories and phantom laboratories where students can practice on models, simulating real patient treatments. We then move on to clinical studies, where our fourth and fifth-year students do their patient treatment internships at our hospital. Our fifth-year students are compensated with military fees for the treatments they provide, in accordance with the latest laws. This allows them to gain practical experience and prepare for their professional careers while also mastering their professions.After graduation, dental students have various career paths to choose from. They can open their own dental clinics, work in existing hospitals and polyclinics, or choose an academic career. Our university, as well as other Dentistry Faculties, offer specialty and doctoral programs for further specialization. There are certain qualities that we look for in students who are considering the Faculty of Dentistry. Manual dexterity is crucial for this profession, as it requires working with hands. Students can improve their manual dexterity beforehand or we provide support through various programs for skill enhancement. It's important to research and understand if Dentistry is the right profession for you. Our faculty is well-equipped with modern facilities, and we anticipate that with our newly built dormitory building, we will be able to offer accommodation to all students of the Faculty of Dentistry.
