Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design
I am Associate Professor Parisa GÖKER, the Head of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Our department, which offers both interior and environmental design courses, was established in the fall semester of 2019 and is one of six state universities in our country offering this program. We currently have 1 associate professor, 3 lecturers, 1 instructor, and 2 research assistants in our department. As an application-based department, we offer laboratory-based courses to our students, where they gain practical skills in environments with computers and drawing tables. Throughout the four-year curriculum, our students develop their skills in technical drawing, perspective lessons, and 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, 3D MAX, and SketchUp. We also provide two internships as part of our curriculum, with a total requirement of 60 days. In the last semester of the second year, there is a construction site internship for 30 days, followed by an office internship of 30 days in the second semester of the third year. Our department also offers an ERASMUS agreement with various interior architecture and environmental design or interior architecture departments in other countries around the world, allowing our students to continue their education abroad for a period of time. Additionally, in their final year, our students are required to complete a graduation thesis that incorporates research skills, science ethics, and thesis writing rules, which prepares them for further graduate studies. At the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, we strive to provide our students with the necessary skills and practical experience to excel in their future careers.
The faculty members of our department are actively involved in both national and international academic and educational activities. As for myself, I participate in scientific projects where I represent our country and university as a management committee member within the framework of Cooperation in Science and Technology. Graduates of our interior architecture and environmental design program have various career opportunities in both private and public sectors. They can either start their own businesses or work in government institutions such as governorships, municipalities, and state planning organizations. Our department is application-based, and most of our courses are conducted in a laboratory environment. Throughout the 8-semester program, we provide extensive support to our students in technical drawing, computer usage, and project design. Although some first-year students may feel inadequate in architectural drawing, technical drawing, and perspective, we assure you that with the dedication of our students and the guidance of our experienced teachers, progress can be made over time. Our school offers both a central library and an e-library service. Our campus has an indoor and outdoor sports field for students to participate in sports activities. Additionally, we have established student clubs with the support of our teachers that provide socialization opportunities and support the hobbies of our students. Our advice to prospective students is not to be afraid of drawing and to apply to our department with confidence. At Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, we welcome all students who are interested in pursuing studies in this field.
