Department of Tourism Management
Greetings, I am Associate Professor Nurdan SEVİM, the Head of the Department of Tourism Management at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University's Faculty of Applied Sciences. Our department was established to train managers for the tourism sector at various levels. Our courses cover a range of topics including general management, introduction to tourism, proficiency courses in tourism, housekeeping, food and beverage services, various package programs used in the hotel industry, and most importantly, English and German as a second foreign language.
To provide practical experience, we have a laboratory and a practice room for the housekeeping department. We also have a practice room designed as a hotel room. In addition, our university's general laboratory provides training in MS, Amadeus, and Elektra programs. Students who take the Amadeus program in their fourth year are awarded a certificate.
In our department, there is a mandatory 60-day internship, which can be completed as a single block or divided into two 30-day internships. Furthermore, we offer ERASMUS internship opportunities, and our students have had the chance to intern in Spain.
We organize various activities both in and out of the classroom. We host various tourism managers for the I Share My Experience in the Tourism Sector event, and students also participate in technical trips in and out of the city.
Graduates of our department have employment opportunities in 3-star, 4-star, 5-star, or boutique hotels, as well as in travel agencies and institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. However, students often face difficulties with the second foreign language and applied courses. As department teachers, we strive to minimize these difficulties. We recommend that students interested in our department first study English for a year at our university's preparatory school.
Additionally, human relations are essential in the service sector, and students who choose this department should have excellent interpersonal skills. Our campus is easily accessible, only 30 minutes by road from Eskişehir, 1 hour from Bursa, and 2 hours from Ankara and Istanbul by high-speed train. We welcome students who wish to continue their education in a tranquil environment surrounded by nature.
Finally, I wish all prospective students success in their university exams, and we welcome everyone to the Department of Tourism Management at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University's Faculty of Applied Sciences.
