I am Raif ZİLELİ, the Head of the Department of Child Development at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. I received my undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees from Abant İzzet Baysal University and I have been working at Bilecik Seyh Edebali University for 14 years. Our department offers a 4-year program within the faculty of health sciences. We have 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 4 doctoral lecturers, and 2 research assistants. Our courses focus on child development, covering topics such as early childhood, childhood, and adolescence, as well as different approaches in these developmental periods. We also have a child development practice laboratory covering an area of 60 square meters with a tatami floor, equipped with box toys, board games, science and mathematics games, various musical instruments, and facilities for drama studies.
We provide application courses such as child development field application, special education application, and pre-school application, with our students undertaking practice in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Our university offers exchange programs such as ERASMUS, Farabi, and Mevlana. Our department students benefit significantly from the ERASMUS program, and we have established good relations with the Venetian Pedagogical Faculty in Hungary. I have been involved in coordinating various projects related to children since 2013, with the aim of integrating students with special needs into social life and increasing awareness and cooperation among university students and institutions. Some of these projects are "there is life on campus," "will you play with me?", "happy days," "face to face," "face to face 2," and "face to face 3." These projects encompass a range of activities, including choir, theater, and swimming, conducted with university students and students with special needs.
The study areas of our department students are broad, and they can initially work in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health and institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. We provide consultancy services to our students whenever they need assistance with their studies. Candidates who choose our department should be passionate about children, interested in child development, and willing to work with children in the future. Our university is renowned for its sports facilities, and we have excellent ERASMUS facilities that our students can benefit from compared to other universities.
