Faculty of Medicine

Greetings, I am Burak, currently pursuing my education at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine. Our medical faculty offers a comprehensive program comprising of preclinical and clinical education. The initial three years are dedicated to preclinical training, conducted in the amphitheater. Subsequently, in the fourth, fifth, and sixth years, we transition to hospital-based education. Similar to other medical faculties, Istanbul Medeniyet University also includes a senior intern year. The core production program curriculum, implemented across medical faculties in our country, is followed at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine. During the preclinical phase, we engage in clinical and surgical courses, as well as study biochemistry, pathology, anatomy, histology, and physiology. Upon entering the clinical phase, our internships take place at Istanbul Göztepe City Hospital and Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital. Throughout these internships, we gain hands-on experience by attending various departments, providing patient care, visiting polyclinics, and utilizing laboratory facilities. This continues into our final year. The initial three years are characterized by an intensive focus on laboratories and workshops. We extensively utilize laboratories during courses such as patient histology, physiology, anatomy, and pathology. We have access to custom microscopes and models, allowing us not only to observe but also actively participate in the learning process. Particularly, I find biochemistry, histology, and physiology classes to be highly enjoyable. Becoming a medical professional has been a lifelong dream of mine. From an early age, I was certain that I would pursue a career in medicine. The desire to help people, promote human health, and foster understanding has always held a special place in my heart. Therefore, choosing the medical faculty was a definitive decision for me. One of the key factors influencing my choice of university is its status as a state university located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. Istanbul Medeniyet University enjoys a central position, conveniently accessible via metro, metrobus, and bus stops. Additionally, the university boasts a reputable hospital facility that meets international accreditation requirements and its academic staff consistently achieves high rankings in the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS) among state universities in Turkey. These factors greatly contribute to my appreciation of the institution. The library is one of the most utilized facilities at our university. Istanbul Medeniyet University library stands as the largest public university library in Turkey, offering modern amenities and resources. It features computer labs, group study rooms, reading halls, and a borrowing system for books. Additionally, the recently established research center and institute provide valuable opportunities for academic pursuits. Like many students, I take full advantage of these facilities. Upon graduating from medical school, my aspiration is to specialize in plastic surgery and subsequently achieve academic accomplishments. Attending symposiums and authoring textbooks, in addition to scholarly articles, are key milestones in this journey. For me, one of the most significant aspects of Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine is the strong connection we share with our professors. The communication channels with our teachers are open and genuine, allowing us to reach out to them whenever needed. I consider this to be the school's best attribute, and it should certainly be a factor to consider when selecting a university and faculty. Within our campus, there are dedicated areas for various social and sports activities, such as tennis courts, basketball courts, football fields, and volleyball courts. Furthermore, we have a diverse range of student clubs that foster socialization alongside physical activities. Personally, I am a member of the European Medical Students' Association, which serves as a platform for social engagement and stress relief within the demanding and rigorous medical curriculum. Our university boasts a wide array of clubs, including theater, cooking, and specialized medical clubs.To all those preparing for the university entrance exam, I wish you success.
