Malatya Technopark
Hi, I'm Professor Adnan Fatih Kocamaz. I am a faculty member of Inonu University Computer Engineering Department. I've been in Malatya since 2013. I've worked at universities in the Thrace region before. Since 2016, I have been working as the general manager of Malatya Technopark. There were 14 companies in our Technopark at that time. In approximately 5 years, since 2016, the number of these companies has increased to 82. Of course, we have experienced a very rapid growth and we have achieved very successful work. The most important part of us here is that we have companies that employ students of our own university. Therefore, we have grown our human resources within ourselves and made companies prefer Malatya. This gave us two kinds of opportunities: our students can meet with companies while they are still studying, they can work there, they can start working voluntarily, and the companies have the opportunity to train their own employees. In this way, we were able to increase the number of companies and strengthen the employment of our students. Since 2016, Malatya Technopark has demonstrated a very rapid growth trend and has succeeded in doubling itself on average every year. We can show the most important factor of our rapid growth as the presence of Inonu University behind us and the support it gives us. In the periods after 2016, we have increased our staff numbers a lot. More than 300 staff are currently employed in our Technopark and we no longer fit in our existing buildings, so to speak. We're trying to open up new settlements. The companies that exist in our Technopark have developed very beautiful products, software and services that contain innovative ideas. You already see many examples of these around me. Today, for the first time, we have developed and continue to develop many products, many services, from pulse meters and disinfection bulbs produced in Turkey to anti-aging cream products and food supplements. Technopark also carries out cooperation activities with all other institutions of our province besides Inonu University. We have developed joint projects with many competent organizations of our province, especially our Chamber of Commerce and Industry, municipality and governorship. We have carried out activities in order to increase employment and increase cooperation. In particular, we have started to carry out joint activities to meet the software needs of our municipalities. This laid the foundation for a very good activity for us locally, especially in Anatolia. Especially with our own companies locally, we have taken very good steps to develop the software of technopark’s own companies and public companies in our region. We called it positive discrimination and called it the Malatya Model. In accordance with this model, we have worked our model as follows: We tried to organize the software needed by public institutions in our province to be made by the companies we have. At this point, we have taken concrete steps and have done very good work to develop the software of our central municipalities together, especially our metropolitan municipality. The first concrete example of this is the website offered by our Chamber of Commerce and Industry to its own customers and its own users. The interface of this site was completely written by a Malatya Technopark company. This has been a very promising study that something can be done, especially locally, without outside support, and that we can solve local problems. Hopefully we can improve that further. We plan to answer the technological needs of all public institutions in our province.
We have started to organize very good activities to organize the provision of the human resources needed by our companies by students of Inonu University. In these activities, we carried out various technical training activities in which we brought companies and students together. We started to organize career activities where companies and students came together and got to know each other. In fact, when a new company came to our structure or wanted to come, we started to take very good, quality steps to provide the infrastructure and human resources of the company from our students who have not yet graduated by bringing them together with the students of the relevant department before their launch. At this point, we found that this activity was very productive. Because the company recruits new students before they graduate and the students can determine new firms or new fields of study or the areas where they will climb the career ladder first before they graduate. We're really reaping the benefits of that right now. Because we see that the presence of our student body is of great importance in the rise of our number of companies. On the one hand, our companies are very satisfied because they have the opportunity to train students from the core, so to speak. In this way, we have increased the number of companies and we have been able to obtain our students employed in the companies from the students of our own university. We would like to point out that these activities will continue to increase over time. Therefore, especially for students who want to choose Inonu University, we can easily say that if you have a goal of entering the business world before the end of university life, I believe that Inonu University will be a good choice for you in this regard. We don't forget our young entrepreneur candidates. Our center, which we organize under the name compass pre-incubation center and coordinate on discovering new entrepreneurs, offers a great opportunity not only for students working in companies but also for students who want to start their own businesses. At this point, although our center is very young, it has achieved great success in a very short time. We are really proud for our candidates who made it into the top three out of 500 candidate projects in the Young Entrepreneurs Competition organized by MUSIAD (Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association), as well as our student Merve who managed to enter the top five out of 150 projects in the women entrepreneurs competition organized by KADEM (Women and Democracy Association. I am sure that among you there are young people who have entrepreneurial dreams and want to start their own business, who think technologically. Our main goal will be to discover you and to bring you to the future of Turkey. Especially in recent times, we have innovative products that we are very proud of, being domestic and national that we have produced in Malatya Technopark and the number of them is increasing day by day. Two of the most important of these are the pulse meter and temperature meter, which almost everyone uses in their own homes. We have now developed, designed and produced these tools in our own Technopark. And that's a very great occasion for us. UVC (germicidal) disinfection lamps, which oscillate at a wavelength of 222 nanometers, which we are the 3rd manufacturer in the world, were produced again in our Technopark. The most important advantage of these disinfection lamps is that they can destroy all pathogens, i.e. bacteria and viruses, in the environment even though they do not harm human health. We're rightly proud of that, too. We welcome young entrepreneurs and prospective students who want to choose Inonu University to our Technopark immediately after visiting our university. It’s a privilege to be a part of İnönü University. I wish you all the best in your exams.
