Hi, I'm civil engineer Metin Katlav. I completed my undergraduate education at Inonu University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering. I completed my undergraduate education in 2019 as the first of the faculty and department. In the same year, I started my master's degree in Civil Engineering department of Inonu University Institute of Science and Sciences. I am in the thesis stage at the moment. Our institute was founded in 1984. Since its establishment, it has determined its objectives with clear lines and aims to educate scientists who are educated and conduct researches in national and international standards in their fields, who are confident, who adhere to ethical values, who are productive, innovative, acting in accordance with the age, who have merit and who serve humanity. In addition, it aims to solve these problems by doing postgraduate thesis studies in order to solve the problems in the industry of our region at the academic level. Our institute is located on the second floor of the Student Center and is located on our central campus. I think that's a really important advantage. Because when I researched the universities while making my preferences for my undergraduate education, I saw that Inonu University was very appealing in terms of the central campus. Our Institute of Science has a total of 16 departments. The main research areas of these departments include mathematics, science and engineering sciences, and two of these research areas are interdisciplinary departments formed by combining many disciplines. Taking into account the requirements of the age, our institute continues to incorporate new main branches of science, especially in our region and therefore our country, that will keep pace with technological developments and reduce our dependence on the outside and solve problems in this field and encourage interdisciplinary studies. For this purpose, it has completed the necessary studies to be submitted to YÖK (Higher Education Council) for the opening of a Doctoral program in the Department of Energy Science and Technologies, one of the interdisciplinary departments, and a master's program in the Department of Applied Sciences and Software Engineering Department.
To mention the academic studies carried out in our Institute of Science, in addition to theoretical education, R&D (research and development) studies are carried out that can solve the problems of our region. From these studies both national and international publications and contributions to the relevant literature are made at the academic level. As such, there are a total of 29 TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Institutions of Turkey) projects underway, supporting master's and doctoral thesis studies carried out within our institute. My master's thesis is among these supported projects. In addition, a total of 5 PhD students have received Doctoral scholarships within the scope of 100/2000 YÖK Doctoral Scholarship. Looking at all these studies, the thesis studies carried out in the departments within our institute are to provide solutions to the problems in the relevant sectors. I can say that they are original academic studies. We make sufficient use of the laboratories of the departments affiliated with our Institute of Science and the libraries of our university. There are many faculty members who are equipped and competent in their field. These teachers have numerous publications in journals that can be found in international indexes. It is clear that the knowledge we will gain with the postgraduate education we will do under the guidance of these professors will make important contributions to both our daily and academic life. We'd be happy to have idealistic, diligent students among us. I would also like to point out that postgraduate education is not only an endeavor to be taken in order to have the title of professor. Because graduate education is a process that requires seriousness and effort, and I think it is a debt to this country for us young people to aim to create something innovative and original. Because the future awaits us. This is the only way we can reduce our country's dependence on the outside. We are pleased to have students who will work in the field of science and engineering sciences at Inonu University Institute of Science and Sciences.
