Rector's Speech 4

At Inonu University, our students are located at the center of the university. At Inonu University, the campus has a view that we focus on how much we can enrich the lives of our students in all areas other than their educational and basic needs. We have opened all our sporting areas to our students and motivate them by holding competitions in teams, organizing leagues and different sporting competitions. We do sports activities widely throughout the campus. Cycling, hiking, climbing, swimming, football, basketball, volleyball and tennis are among these activities. Our students also participate in inter-university competitions with nearly 50 university teams. We have individual athletes, and we have national athletes. Recently, one of our athletes became a European champion. One of our athletes became a Balkan Champion. We have athletes who are second and third in the Balkans, second and third in Europe. I am definitely rewarding our university teams that have achieved success as a team and our athletes who have achieved individual success. I support that. In addition, our students who want to play sports as amateurs or for health are our target. We aim to make them play sports, to encourage and to motivate them to sports and sports activities. At this point, our university is very successful. I can say that our students at our university participate significantly in sporting activities. There are runs that involve the entire campus. As rector, I run among them from time to time. In terms of sports facilities and the facilities of our campus perhaps very few universities have what we offer in Turkey. Again, we have a Water Sports Center, which is in very few universities. In our Aquatics Center, we offer many competitions such as skiing, canoeing and swimming as activities to our students. Our students have very rich opportunities in the field of sports. At all associate, undergraduate and postgraduate level, regardless of which school they are in, our students can develop themselves with artistic activities that they can participate in outside their fields and gain competence and experience in new fields and new art activities. They're active there, raising themselves. This contributes to their personal development. We have 103 student groups. With these communities, we carry out more than 1,000 cultural activities within a year. Our students take an active role in these cultural activities. There is definitely cultural or artistic activity at our university's Turgut Özal Congress and Cultural Center a few days a week, and these activities are open to all our employees. With these activities, our students can follow and listen to the concerts, studies, seminars, conferences, workshops and symposiums of the art people, professors and students of our own university. In addition, we bring together groups from our country and even from different parts of the world with our students by hosting different artists in our university. Our students participate in numerous scientific and artistic activities, theatre events either actively or as audiences, listeners and spectators. We not only encourage our students to use campus facilities very efficiently, but also motivate them to do so. We support and guide our students.
