Information about Boys’ Dormitory

Hello there friends, I am Ilhan Yenice, from Bursa. I am a first year, Political Science and International Relations student at Başkent University. Since this is my first year in the university, it is also my first year in a dormitory. We are not allowed to enter the dormitory after 12 am. Although that is not the case on weekends, during which we are allowed to come back by 1 to 1:30 am. The dormitory provides security, as well as officers 24/7. Now I will tell you about the rules and regulations that must be abided by and respected at all times. We are not allowed to bring appliances such as a toaster within our rooms; the entry of such things is prohibited for security reasons. The fact that our dormitory is within the campus is greatly advantageous. For instance, we get to sleep longer without missing classes. This is because it only takes us 5 minutes from the dorm to class. Also, the library is very close by; we can always go back and forth. You also have the chance to go take a nap anytime during the afternoon. If you needed to stay at school, you will have no trouble since your dorm is so close. And if you needed anything at any moment you can immediately get it from the room and return to your lecture. Those are only some of the advantages that you will be able to enjoy. In our dorms, students from the same departments usually stay in the same rooms. This does not only allow you to study with people taking the same courses, but also allows you to form stronger ties and friendships with one another. I find this an extremely advantageous factor, as you can continue being social even at the dorm. Regarding transportation, public buses are hardly accessible since drivers don’t usually like going too far, like to the city center. However, school services are available to make up for that. You can go anywhere you like easily, for example to Kizilay, you get to enjoy your time, get your work done and come back. Frankly speaking, I do not face any problems regarding transportation, because university shuttles come every hour. And they are free. I advise you guys to stay at the dormitory, because it offers an ideal life on campus, and is extremely clean and tidy. The staff is very meticulous, and the ones responsible for your floor will especially be of much help to you. Your departments will be pretty close as you live on campus. Going back and forth to other places is very easy and convenient. I strongly recommend it, as it is a very quiet and peaceful place for students.
