About Student Entrepreneurship

Hello everyone. I’m Ali Berkol. I am the project coordinator at Başkent University Pre-Incubation Center. After 8 years of defense industry experience, I completed my masters’degree and doctorate and with that began working as a project coordinator at Başkent University Pre-Incubation Center. I got my degree from Başkent University in electrical and electronic engineering. I will also complete my doctorate in 2017 at Başkent University in electrical and electronics engineering department. The Pre-Incubation center was established in 2014. Completion of the required sub-structure entered into operation in November 2015, with the preparation of offices. Pre-Incubation Center is the located in the rector building on the basement floor. As of today, we have 25 project teams and 60 project employees. Here, we offer the opportunity to work at the Pre-Incubation Center with colleagues who work in different multidisciplinary systems. Our center is open to all kinds of people in Ankara and Turkey, even those who have no ties with the university, from our undergraduate students, doctoral students, our students from medical faculties, assistants in departments, teaching staff, and administrative staff. Let me tell you about our main meeting. This meeting brings together famous people from the business world. We are enabling stundents to take advantage of their experiences and letting students interact with them. Apart from that, we have a Hackathon. Hackathon is a software event as the name suggests. It is a race that takes about 30 hours. However, we also have an entrepreneurial competition. We do it every year towards the end of spring. Students apply for the competition with their team ideas. These ideas are then evaluated by industry and academic-focused jury and oral presentations are done. Candidate projects considered to be successful in oral presentations are evaluated and supported by the Pre-Incubation Center. Innovative, entrepreneurial thinking is open to everyone. That is why you don’t have to be a staff person, student, or academician at Baskent University. Anyone who wants to work at the Başkent University Pre-Incubation Center can apply to our center. If you are pro-active and you are willing to volunteer if you have an idea that you believe, as we said in our motto "We grow your ideas together." If you are a student at our university or not, we will definitely wait for you.
