Futsal Team
My name Metin Çarboğa and I am a senior student in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Ufuk University. I am also the team captain of Ufuk University Futsal Team. The word ‘futsal’ refers to a game played in an enclosed space. It was first played in 1930 in Uruguay and the first international futsal tournaments were held in 1965. Entering FIFA in 1989, world championships were then arranged. In the first world championship, Uruguay won second and third places, and in the World Cup championship, Brazil took first place Played in a very narrow space, this game requires skill and esthetics and is as tiring as football. The weight of the futsal ball does not exceed 440 grams. It is a heavy ball so it doesn’t bounce that much. The goalposts are 3 meters wide and 2 meters high. Futsal is a 5-on-5 game, including the goalkeeper, and limitless substitutions are allowed. There are two referees, one in the middle and one at the side. The competitions consist of two 20 minute sessions, totalling 40 minutes, with a 15 minute break in between. There is a 5 foul rule—after 5 fouls, each further foul results in a penalty. When the ball is out of play, the game is stopped for those minutes. As in football, the futsal winner is determined by whoever has the highest number of goals. In the case of a tie, the contest goes to penalties or to extra time. This may vary according to various rules. Our sports team was established in 2018 in order to increase the variety of sports here and to represent our university in the inter-university sports competitions. We train in the gym on Incek campus twice a week. The number of players is 12, according to FIFA rules. Throughout the year, we train two days a week following a program we set at the beginning of the year. As matches commence, the frequency of this training increases and we play friendly matches with various other universities. We are currently contending in the 2nd league in the Turkey University Sports League. The biggest success we have achieved so far is third place in Fall semester of 2019 in the Futsal League organized by the University Sports Federation in Ankara. in the Futsal League organized by the University Sports Federation in Ankara. having knowledge of the game, and being in tune with sports culture. As a sports team, we have a sense of unitary consciousness, which has increased our sense of responsibility as part of the team. I wish candidates every success in their exams.
