Erasmus Exchange Program
Hello everyone, my name is Serkan Erdur. I work at the Erasmus Office in Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. I will briefly inform you about the Erasmus program today. The Erasmus program is an exchange program that allows students at all levels of education, including associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees, to study at universities abroad for a certain period of time, as well as to increase their practical skills in institutions and organizations operating in their fields of study through internship activity. Thanks to this program, students also have the chance to increase their social and cultural knowledge and experience by being in countries abroad. Erasmus program is not only a program that students can benefit from. At the same time, it is a program in which the academic and administrative staff of the university have the opportunity to benefit from teaching and training activities in institutions and organizations abroad for certain periods. All students enrolled in the university's formal education programs and all employees of the university, regardless of their position and degree, can benefit from the Erasmus Program. Certain conditions are required for our students and employees to apply for the Erasmus Program. These conditions are to have a certain level of academic achievement for students and at the same time to have a certain foreign language proficiency. In order you to apply for the Erasmus Program at our university, Erasmus application announcements are made by our Erasmus office at certain times of the year. Students and employees of our university apply to the program with an online application form prepared by the IT department and which can be filled in via e-university accounts. Applicants are expected to have a GPA of at least 2.20 out of 4 for associate and undergraduate education levels, and at least 2.50 out of 4 for graduate programs. The language proficiency of the students applying for the Erasmus Program is judged by the Erasmus foreign language proficiency exam held every year in German, French and English by Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University School of Foreign Languages. Students who take these exams are expected to score at least 60 out of 100. In addition, students who have not taken the language exam but have a foreign language document in the ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) in the last 2 years can benefit from the program by presenting these documents if they wish. Neither of our students nor our staff applying for the program are required to pay any fees to the university either during the application for the Erasmus program, for the exam or during the subsequent participation procedures. Some of our students who are entitled to benefit from the Erasmus Program can benefit from a financial support called Erasmus grant, in proportion to the allocated budgets and depending on their success level. This financial support is given monthly in Euros. The amount of financial support given is divided into two groups according to the cost of living of the respective countries. While the monthly support provided for students going to Euro zone countries where the cost of living is relatively higher is 500 Euros, the monthly support provided for students who go to countries where the cost of living is relatively lower and which usually have their own currency is 300 Euros. It is reported that there will be increases in monthly grant amounts in the new Erasmus period of the next 7 years of the European Commission. Within the scope of the Erasmus Program, our university has around 150 Erasmus agreements with 125 higher education institutions from 25 different European countries. Thanks to these agreements within the framework of the Erasmus Program, hundreds of students and staff have had the chance to benefit from the Erasmus Program since the establishment of our university. Our work will continue in the next 7 years of the new Erasmus Program in order to increase these Erasmus agreements, which our university has, in terms of both country and department diversity. We, as Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Erasmus Office, would like to see you at our university, and if you choose our university, we would like to benefit you from the privileges of the Erasmus Program. We wish you all success in your exams.
