Industrial Engineering
I'm Professor Aysun Sagbas. In 2011, I was appointed to Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Corlu Faculty of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering and took over as the head. Our department received its first students in the 2015-2016 academic year. Çorlu Engineering Faculty continues to operate as the newest department. Education is provided in Turkish. In line with the needs of the sector, we aim to educate students with problem solving skills and who have a vision for development. In the Industrial Engineering Department, many compulsory and elective courses are offered in fields such as manufacturing, management, IT, finance and economics. Courses is carried out in a theoretical and practical form. Our students also have the opportunity to choose courses from different disciplines such as artificial intelligence, eco-production and financial engineering. We have a Simulation Laboratory with a capacity of 32 computers in the Department of Industrial Engineering. In this laboratory, applications of software programs such as C, Gams, Arena are done. There are 2 compulsory summer internships in our department, each of which are 30 workdays, making up a total of 60 working days. In addition, “Education in the Sector" model is applied in the spring semester of the 8th semester in order to gain experience in the sector and to ensure adaptation to applied education before graduation. With this program, our students have the opportunity to experience working in the sector before graduating. The Erasmus Plus Student Exchange Program is available in our department. We have agreements with different universities in various countries such as Romania, Italy, Bosnia. Many of our students benefit from this exchange program. In this process, our students have the opportunity to experience the culture and academic life of different universities. Our department has connections with many different institutions operating in the region in line with the needs of the sector. In 2020, workshops were held, these being the "Edirne Chamber of Mechanical Engineers" and "Digital Transformation in Industry University Integration" with the participation of many industrial organizations in the region within the scope the sector and university union. Graduates of our department have opportunities to work in many different production sectors, especially textile, chemical, metal and machinery industries. In addition, our graduates have the opportunity to work in fields such as banking and in the service sector. In the field of health, they have the opportunity to work in research institutions such as DPT (State Planning Organization) or TUBITAK. In addition, they have employment opportunities in different sectors if they establish consulting firms or their own private firms. I have some advice for candidates who will choose our department to develop their academic and social skills. I recommend them to develop their foreign language skills, to learn different software languages for computer programming, and to participate in these activities by following social and cultural activities at home and abroad. Our department continues its education and training operations in a region where industrial enterprises are located. In this context, we have a very close relationship with industrial organizations in the education process. For this reason, our students have the opportunity to go on technical trips and experience the work environment before graduating. In addition, due to the fact that Tekirdağ is very close to Istanbul and Edirne, students have the opportunity to follow social and cultural events in these provinces. I wish success to the candidates who will choose Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Çorlu Faculty of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering.
