International Student Unit

Hello, I am Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Foreign Relations Application and Research Center Directorate, International Students Unit Institutional Coordinator, Professor Harun Göçerler. Our international student admission processes generally take place between the last week of June and the second week of July. Following the final exams and make-up exams of our students, we publish this as an announcement on our page. Our student recruitment processes are carried out entirely with artificial intelligence in a computer environment. All processes such as pre-application, document upload, evaluation and placement are carried out in digital environment. At the final stage, our students can register by submitting the originals of their documents to the student affairs units of the college, faculty or conservatory, according to where they are placed. Documents required for registration are available at “uok.nku.edu.tr". If our students visit this web page, they will see the registration guide tab. They can access all the procedures related to our directive and the Provincial Immigration Administration and the documents that our students need for registration. Our university also does not apply YÖS (Foreign Student Exam) in student admission processes. We accept foreign students based entirely on their diploma grade. Since we accept on the basis of diploma grade, students are categorized according to their preference order, from the student with the highest grade to the student with the lowest grade, and placed by our artificial intelligence system. An important point to be mentioned at this stage is that Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University is one of the few universities that has the status of determining student quota for international students of Balkan nationality, with the right granted by YÖK (Higher Education Council). Therefore, since we are in the Thrace region, which is the gateway of our country to the Balkans, and we are neighbors to the Balkan countries, we have to give an advantage to our foreign students especially for the quotas. We especially want our students to know about this. Our foreign students can attend Turkish courses at TÖMER (Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center) as well as receive English education in optional preparatory classes at our School of Foreign Languages. Among our international students, who are also known as foreign students, there are those who do not have to pay tuition fees during their studies at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. Our students with blue card or Syrian nationality do not pay tuition fees. Which of our students will pay tuition fees and which are exempt are updated annually on our website. When this information is announced by YÖK, we will update our website accordingly. As a matter of fact, since we are a student-friendly city and university, I would like to state that our students do not encounter any problems, since the living conditions are much more cheaper than big cities in terms of house rents, food and beverage prices and other accommodation options. Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University has 82 student clubs. Thanks to these student clubs, our students can have many social and cultural activities, through the network they establish with the municipality, associations and non-governmental organizations in the city, and they can participate in events such as the cherry festival organized by the Tekirdağ municipality. This is also a cultural activity in the context of the integration of university students to the public. I can say that there are steps taken to bring our foreign students and local people together. Our campus is right next to the Değirmenaltı Mahallesi, which we can call the student neighborhood due to its location. Therefore, if our students wish, they can stay in apartments or dormitories owned by private companies, as well as in the state dormitory next to our campus. At the same time, we have a private student dormitory in our campus. Finally, what we will tell our international students who will choose Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University is that our door is always open to them.
