Hello our dear students. I'm Faruk Aksoy. I am working as a faculty member in the Department of General Surgery at the University of Health Sciences, Trabzon Faculty of Medicine. Briefly, I would like to introduce you to the Trabzon Medical Faculty. Trabzon Faculty of Medicine is one of the newest medical faculties, established in 2020, as part of the University of Health Sciences. As Trabzon Medical Faculty, our aim is to train physicians who can follow the technological developments in medicine and also physicians who are compassionate. In addition, we will do our best to offer the best possibilities. Let me talk about the courses. We provide courses that we refer to as Basic Medical Sciences in the first three years. These are rather theoretical courses and mostly laboratory courses, they have clinical internships in the 4th and 5th grades. There are both theoretical and practical internships in clinical internships. We also have hospital practices. Theoretical knowledge learned at hospital wards reinforces what you know about diagnosis and treatment. The 6th grade is a period that lasts for 12 months, it is the internship period. At the same time, unlike the first 5 years, students work in night shifts. It is possible to use your theoretical knowledge practically for diagnosis and treatment on the patient. This period continues for 12 months, purely focused on practice. There are laboratory courses in our faculty in the first 3 years. Practices are carried out in laboratories under the supervision of faculty members. When clinical internships begin, case presentations on patients are made in bedside practice classrooms under the supervision of faculty members. During the 12-month internship period in the last year of our faculty, training is provided both at the bedside and in the ED, including the emergency cases of these disciplines, including Obstetrics, General Surgery, Internal Diseases, and Pediatrics. In our faculty, a certificate of proficiency is given to reinforce the education received by our interns in their last year. As Trabzon Medical Faculty, we are part of the University of Health Sciences, so Erasmus Student Exchange Program is implemented in our university and faculty. We provide our students with the necessary convenience in this regard. As Trabzon Medical Faculty, we are a newly established educational institution. In this regard, we plan to organize scientific activities for both our students and faculty members in the future. Every student who is a graduate of Trabzon Medical Faculty has the opportunity to find a job as a general practitioner in the Ministry of Health. It is possible to get appointed through a draw- based selection process. Apart from this, if they pass the Medical Specialization Exam, which is held twice a year, they have the opportunity to specialize in the branch they want. In addition, they have the opportunity to study abroad if they want and if they also meet the conditions. Students who will choose this place should know that they are dealing with people. Dealing with people means being patient. Apart from this, since the faculty of medicine and the science of medicine are a branch of science that is open to many changes and innovations, it means that you need to follow the changes and innovations. Students should be aware of this issue and know the difficulty of this profession. Trabzon Medical Faculty is a newly established faculty. It is currently providing education with 62 students. Its advantage, which differs from other medical faculties, is the low number of students. The low number of students provides one-on-one practice opportunities in internships or courses. We think that the students who will choose this place are lucky in this regard. Trabzon's geographical location, both by the sea and also very green, offers other benefits for the students. There are many different social activity areas in our city where our students can develop themselves for 6 years. We wish all our students to be successful throughout their education life.
