Uzbekistan Ibni Sina Faculty of Medicine

I am Associate Professor Papatya Keleş. I work as a faculty member in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences. At the same time, I am the vice dean of the Ibn-i Sina Faculty of Medicine. Ibn-i Sina Faculty of Medicine was established in 2019 in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. It is aimed to train competent and successful physicians in the field of Medicine. In the Faculty of Medicine, the courses we call basic sciences are given in the 1st and 2nd grades, such as Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, and Biochemistry. At the end of Year 2, an introduction to clinical sciences is made with courses such as Pharmacology and Pathology. Starting from the 3rd year, theoretical courses related to clinical sciences are given. After the 4th year, our students go to hospitals and continue their education under the supervision of clinicians. Here, both theoretical courses are completed and methods such as patient examination, intervention and treatment are taught in practice. In the 6th year, our students become intern doctors and they start to do the work that a doctor can do alone. At the end of the 6th year, our students graduate and receive the title of medical doctor. Our students studying at Ibn-i Sina Faculty of Medicine continue their practical education in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and biology laboratories in Bukhara. Our students at the Faculty of Medicine do their internships in hospitals under the supervision of clinicians, starting from the 4th year. On the one hand, they support their theoretical knowledge and on the other hand they reinforce their practical knowledge. Here, they actively apply methods of intervening, diagnosing and treating a patient. After the internship, they graduate at the end of the 6th year and receive their diplomas. Our students who graduate from the Faculty of Medicine receive the title of medical doctor and can work in state hospitals, health units or private clinics. Or, if they want, they can become experts in that department and continue their academic life by taking additional training in the department they want. I recommend students who will choose the Faculty of Medicine to focus on their courses carefully, participate in their practical applications, and work hard in a way that will not be limited to lecture notes only, but also benefit from other books. Dormitory opportunities have been prepared for candidates who will come to Uzbekistan Medical Faculty from abroad. Prospective students can easily find a place in these dormitories and continue their education. I wish good luck to the candidates who will take the exam.
