Erzurum Faculty of Medicine

Hello, dear students. I am the University of Health Sciences, Erzurum Medical Faculty Dean Dr. Konca Altınkaynak. As the name suggests, the University of Health Sciences provides education in the field of health and is one of the few universities in the world that provides education in this field. As the University of Health Sciences, Erzurum Faculty of Medicine, we also aim to train good physicians. For our country, we would like to train physicians who understand the problems of our citizens, who are humble, who care about scientific studies and who are up to date on international literature. For this purpose, all kinds of opportunities have been provided by our state to our students who will receive education in our faculty. Erzurum City Hospital, where our students will receive education in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades, is a hospital with great facilities and technological infrastructure. Erzurum City Hospital is a hospital where patients not only in Erzurum but also in the whole Eastern Anatolia Region are treated, checked up and diagnosed. It has all kinds of high-tech devices and equipment. The Erzurum Medical Faculty has a great academic staff that provides education in basic branches and clinical branches. Faculty of Medicine education covers a period of 6 years in our country. Basic science courses are offered in the first year, such as Biochemistry, Anatomy, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Histology. In these courses, theoretical lessons are taught, followed by practice of these lessons in laboratories. Training is completed as a trainee doctor in the 4th and 5th grades, and as an intern doctor in the 6th grade. Erzurum City Hospital, which is the training hospital of the University of Health Sciences, has high technology laboratories. Our students can also benefit from these laboratories throughout their education. Among these laboratories, we have a central laboratory that includes Biochemistry and Microbiology departments. There are also laboratories for Pathology and Medical Genetics. The Erzurum Medical Faculty of Health Sciences offers national and international student exchange programs. These are Erasmus, Mevlana and Farabi Student Exchange Programs. Besides medical education, sports and artistic activities are organized for our students. A student who graduated from the faculty of medicine is appointed as a general practitioner by the Ministry of Health within 2 months at most. However, our graduate students can go a step further and take the medical specialization program. Students who want to pursue an academic career can apply to academic staff positions at private and public universities by conducting scientific studies. The profession of medicine is one of the most sacred professions because we take care of people, we treat people, we listen to people's problems. In this sense, our students who will enroll in the medical faculty are expected to work hard and be patient at the beginning. They will need to be hardworking for this profession and I recommend them to be humble. Erzurum is the most developed city of Eastern Anatolia. In this sense, there is no problem of accommodation in the dormitories, houses or apartments where our students will stay. The people of Erzurum are hospitable and have embraced students who have been studying and serving their nation for years and will continue to do so. I would like to welcome our students who will choose Erzurum Faculty of Medicine and hope to see them soon.
