History
Hello, I am Göksel Günal, a senior undergraduate student at Pamukkale University, Department of History. Pamukkale University Department of History was founded in 1992 by Associate Professor Mahmut Pehlivan, with the Presidential Decree dated 25 July 2022 and numbered 5868, it became a part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. History department is located in Kınıklı campus, which is the central campus of the university. In the History department, there are courses on ancient and medieval times in the 1st and 2nd grades, and modern-day classes in the 3rd and 4th grades. In addition to the compulsory courses, there are departmental and non-departmental elective courses. We have the opportunity to get to know other disciplines with non-departmental elective courses. After completing the undergraduate education, graduates become competent enough to use research techniques and apply them to historical studies they are interested in. We have the opportunity to work in archives, museums, projects supported by national and international funds, and educational institutions with the pedagogical formation we receive. Our department has a great academic staff. Instructors spend a lot of time with students both in and outside the classroom. The department has ERASMUS student exchange programs with universities in Spain, Romania, Germany, and Poland. In addition, minor and double major programs are available with departments such as Sociology, Art History, Turkish Language and Literature. The department has many activities both academically and socially. That's why I chose the history department. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Pamukkale University has an important academic experience and hosts many social and sports activities. In addition, the fact that the university campus has an integrated structure with the city, is student-friendly, and is easy to access are some of the important factors in my preference for Pamukkale University. The academic staff is very supportive. They collaborate with us in our theses and academic careers. As the history department, we have conference and panel programs to inform students. The food distribution and preparation system has been designed to minimize hand contact, thus increasing the level of hygiene. In terms of library, the university provides access to 100,000 books and 1.5 million digital resources. The university is very active in terms of social life: student clubs, early and end-of-term activities are indispensable for Pamukkale University. After graduating as a historian, I aim to complete my master's degree and PhD in ancient age in Pamukkale University Social Sciences Institute. If you have an endless curiosity towards history and a desire to learn, Pamukkale University history department is a great place thanks to its understanding of education, program, staff, and location. I recommend you to come to Denizli, where Pamukkale is located, which is a world historical heritage.
