Contemporary Turkic Dialects And Literatures
Hello, I'm Reyhan Karakurt, an undergraduate student at Pamukkale University, Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures. Our department is located in Kınıklı campus, which is our main campus. It was established in 2013 and started accepting students in 2014. A mutual student and faculty exchange program is implemented with approximately 12 countries. It is planned to increase the number of these countries to 25. In general, the courses we are given in our first year have the aim of teaching us our own language well before learning other languages. Apart from Turkish dialects, especially Uzbek, Uyghur, Azerbaijani, Turkmen, Gagauz Saha Turkish, Tuvan Turkish, Kyrgyz and Kazakh, we learn Russian for 8 semesters. We do not have an internship program. However, if you wish to do pedagogical formation, an internship program is implemented in the last two semesters. Of course, if we successfully pass all our courses and finish our final year thesis, we graduate. When you graduate from our department, and are considering going into teaching, you can work as a Turkish Language and Literature teacher, and you can also work as an editor and translator if you get pedagogical formation. Once you graduate you can have the title of Turcologist, which I will be proud to carry. I chose this department in order to learn other Turkish dialects and cultures, especially Turcic Turkish, and to transfer them to future generations and to be in a more conscious position in this regard. The reason why I chose Pamukkale University is that it is one of the deep-rooted and developed universities of the Aegean Region, and it brings us together, especially with Central Asian countries related to our department, by organizing conferences, fairs, and symposiums to develop us not only academically but also socially and culturally. I was attracted by the support of our faculty members at Pamukkale University. The strong teaching staff, the rich library, the student-friendly prices in the cafeteria facilities and having a campus built in a beautiful nature were all positive points. I have benefited from my school in terms of the friendships and social environment I have established, and I want to continue my academic career with a master's and doctorate when I graduate. In this way, I want to continue my education and training as an academic. My advice to friends who will prefer this department is if you are interested in Turkish dialects, if you are open to research and learning, if you constantly want to improve yourself, if you have a passion for languages, and language learning, you can choose Pamukkale University. I wish everyone success in advance. I would definitely recommend it to my friends who are considering choosing Pamukkale University.
