Pamukkale University, Faculty of Communication, Head of New Media and Communication Department Associate Professor Emel Dikbaş. I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at Dokuz Eylül University. After completing my doctorate at Hacettepe University, I worked as a visiting researcher at Purdue University in the United States of America. After completing my research and studies in the field of media, new media and cognitive psychology in the United States, I returned to Pamukkale University and started my job. I have been working as the Head of the New Media and Communications Department since 2018. Our New Media and Communication department, which is within the body of Pamukkale University Faculty of Communication, is still in the establishment phase. We continue our efforts to complete our faculty members. At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to prepare the infrastructure of our department. Our department has not started to admit students yet. However, we aim to start admitting students at the undergraduate level immediately after completing necessary studies, infrastructure, and curriculum. In the field of New Media and Communication, we aim to establish a department that will teach in English. Our work on this issue continues. As Pamukkale University Faculty of Communication, we have various agreements. We have bilateral agreements with foreign universities and various institutions. As the international relations coordinator of our faculty, I also carry out the work on this subject myself. We have abroad opportunities in two different categories. The first is within the framework of general agreements and Erasmus agreements. We have 3 separate agreements with universities in European Union member countries that provide education in English. These agreements have been completed for the participation of students. These agreements are currently active within the scope of student exchange programs. In addition, our students have the opportunity to do internships abroad. This is again as a part of Erasmus agreements and international exchange programs. Faculty of Communication students, who wish, can go and do their internship in any of the European Union member countries with an invitation letter from any institution abroad. Faculty of Communication is a faculty that carries out active studies within Pamukkale University. Last year, in November 2021, we held a Communication Deans Council meeting with the participation of the Deans of Communication Faculties in Turkey and Kazakhstan. As Pamukkale University Faculty of Communication, we hosted this meeting. We also host many such events. We are always actively working on such projects. The field of New Media and Communication is among the most preferred departments among the departments that admit students from the score categories, especially in the field of social sciences. We are aware of this. Of course, the possibilities of this department should not be overlooked. Main reason of this popularity is due to department's curriculum which is based on technological content, digital channels, and social media. That is how we structure our department's curriculum. Students who graduated from the Department of New Media and Communication can work in sectors where digital media is dominant. They are in an advantageous position in this regard. Because they receive education mainly on visual communication design and social media. In addition, since students graduate by specializing in social media management and interactive media design, they can easily get a job in these fields. Our age is the age of communication and we are in a transformation period in digital communication. Therefore, there is always a need for well-educated individuals and candidates who can serve and take part in this transformation. We always try to keep our curriculum up to date by taking into account the demands from the sector. In this context, New Media and Communication graduates can easily find jobs in many areas such as social media, visual communication, media, press organizations, and agencies. Pamukkale University is located in Denizli, a city with strong international connections, developed trade and industry, and a cultural life. Therefore, we can say that the opportunities offered to students by the city and the university are very wide. Pamukkale University is strong both within the framework of university-industry cooperation and within the framework of local cooperations. It is a university that offers unlimited opportunities to students: from accommodation to transportation, from social opportunities to courses. It is the only university and the apple of the eye of Denizli. So it gets a lot of support. It acts with an education approach that cares and prioritizes its students in a way that fulfills the requirements of student-friendly education.
