Akdağmadeni School of Health
We have a plan for graduation projects as follows: For the occupational health and safety department, in the final year, we have such a course, and with the consultancy of all our professors, we plan graduation projects with the projects that our external stakeholders need and that we believe will contribute to the education of our students. In this direction, we actively carry out a comprehensive graduation project for a semester for the benefit of both our external stakeholders and the academic and personal development of our students. We have the following planning for our nursing department; In the last year, we have an application course for the first semester and the second semester, that is, covering both semesters. Nursing care management 1 and nursing care management 2. In other words, when a student studying at our school comes to the 4th grade, what kind of 4th grade awaits the student? He or she receives an education where we are at school for 2 hours a week, where we have theoretical discussions, and all the other times he/she works as a nurse in a clinic in the hospital. In this context, of course, we do not leave our students alone in the hospital. They do their practices in hospitals with the accompaniment of our professors. Afterwards, we plan their education in a way that they will have full equipment and competence when they graduate by working with nurses, sometimes by entering the shift system, that is, day and night.
As in all universities in Turkey and in all departments of our university, our students can benefit from exchange programmes such as ERASMUS, Farabi and Mevlana. In this sense, we support the applications of our students.
We also support them with one-to-one academic counselling. In addition, students need to have good language skills for programmes such as ERASMUS. In this sense, we provide course support to our students. In this way, we offer our support to ensure that they are prepared for ERASMUS both academically and linguistically. A part from that, the International Scientific Research Society was established by our students and I am currently the academic advisor of the International Scientific Research Society, so that our students can receive consultancy not only for programmes such as ERASMUS, Farabi, but also for all projects such as congresses and scientific projects. We provide our connections abroad, online or face-to-face interviews are held from time to time.
In addition, there are TÜBİTAK2209 (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) student projects, as all universities in Turkey benefit from.
Both the occupational health and safety department and the nursing department students in our school are currently actively participating in 2209 student projects and have successfully received support. In fact, one of them is about to be completed and we are about to publish its report. In March 2022, we have a national organisation planned. We undertook the Science Symposium in the Fight against Drugs as Akdağmadeni School of Health. I say we undertook it because we did not plan this symposium on our own. It was a symposium we organised in cooperation with KatipÇelebi University, Ankara YıldıırmBeyazıt University, Forensic Scientists Association, Akdağmadeni District Governorship and Akdağmadeni Municipality.
In this sense, it is necessary to present all the professors of this symposium and probably the biggest thanks to our students. This was a national organisation with the great contribution of our students. It was a 3-day programme. Usually in symposiums, one-day programmes are held instead of a 3-day programme. Ours is almost at the congress level. It was an organisation we made with the support of our students. In this organisation, 23 expert scientists from all over Turkey shared their knowledge, experience and knowledge. Thus, our students not only had the opportunity to participate in a national organisation of this scale, but also had the opportunity to take part directly in this organisation. Apart from this, we have many other organisations. Of course, this was the biggest one, but apart from that, we are taking steps to bring science and science together for both our occupational health and safety students and nursing students with an event policy every month.
