Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences
Hello, I am Prof. Dr. Tansel HACIHASANOĞLU. I am the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Yozgat Bozok University.
Our faculty was established in 1994 as a faculty affiliated to Erciyes University. It started its education and training activities by taking students to the business administration department in 1995-1996. In 2006, with the establishment of Yozgat Bozok University, it was named Bozok University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and then continued its activities with business administration and economics departments. Afterwards, the second education of the same departments, namely business administration second education and economics second education departments were opened and students were admitted. Currently, there are five more departments in our faculty besides these two departments, namely: finance, health management, public administration, public administration, international relations and finance and banking departments. In addition, all departments except the finance department have master’s degree programmes. In addition to these master’s programmes, we have a doctoral programme in the Department of Business Administration.
First of all, I would like to express this. Courses specific to the departments are given. I give the Business Administration Department as an example; the Business Administration Department is in parallel with the curricula in other universities across Turkey. Apart from this, we are in constant contact with our internal and external stakeholders, and within the framework of this contact, when there are courses that need to be updated or added to the curriculum, we add these courses to the curriculum. We also follow this path in our other departments. I must say that in these seven departments, we have created courses parallel to the curricula of Turkey’s major universities and international universities around the world. I would like to express this in particular that there is a dynamic structure here.
We have two computer labs. Each of them has a capacity of 40 students. We also have a conference hall for 330 people, which we use very actively. We organise many events in our conference hall. Apart from conferences, symposiums, panels and educational activities, we organise events that will contribute to the development of our students and academicians.
Among our seven departments, the health management department has internship practices in the last semester of the fourth year. Our students carry out their internships in certain hospitals and health institutions in Turkey and Yozgat. In addition, the department of business administration has various business internships in the summer term. In other departments, we carry out internship courses in the form of graduation assignments.
Within the framework of foreign education opportunities, we have the opportunity to send our students to various countries of Europe, a total of 12 countries within the scope of ERASMUS exchange mobility. In certain periods, our students continue their education and training activities within the scope of the exchange programme in these universities with which we have an agreement. We have made this one of our priorities. We are working to increase the number of our students going abroad.
Most recently, in 2018, we organised a national symposium under the leadership of our political science and public administration department. We aim to increase the number of these organisations in the following periods. In addition, we provide the necessary support for our academic staff working within our faculty to participate in national and international symposiums and conferences.
I can say that we have almost all the departments that should be included in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Therefore, there is a very wide range of job opportunities for our graduates. Our business administration department is our first and project department. Our friends who graduate from here have the opportunity to work as managers in the private sector and in certain positions in the public sector. Likewise, the department of economics, the department of finance, the department of banking, the department of finance, the department of public administration and international relations also play an important role, especially in terms of training staff for the public sector. Health management is one of our most active departments and is the only department in which we currently take students as second education. In this department, we have the opportunity to meet the needs of hospitals, private or public hospitals for health managers.
Students may have individual difficulties in different courses. However, we are a faculty with a very warm student, faculty member and lecturer dialogue relationship since its foundation. Therefore, I should state that students have the chance to contact the lecturers directly and get support for the courses they do not understand or the courses they have difficulty with.
We are a very dynamic faculty. I would like to state that we have 60 academic staff. We have a dynamic structure from professor to research assistant. I would like to give an interesting example here. Our oldest faculty member is 52 years old as a professor. I can say that this is a kind of indicator of how dynamic we are as a faculty. We are a rapidly developing faculty. Almost all of our undergraduate departments have graduate programmes. Except for one of our departments, we will apply for a master’s degree in finance this year. We have met the prerequisites. We have a doctoral programme in the Department of Business Administration. We have gradually reached the qualification to open doctoral programmes in other departments. Therefore, we have a structure that prioritises qualified teaching activities that can contribute to education and training activities in every field from undergraduate level to doctoral level in the following process. We welcome all our student brothers and sisters in Turkey to our faculty, especially those who want to receive quality service at the point of education and training. I would also like to express the following: Within the framework of internationalisation, there are students from many parts of the world in our faculty. Almost 25 per cent of our faculty currently consists of students from outside Turkey. Therefore, this structure has increased cultural diversity, and created the chance, for our brothers and sisters from various parts of our country, to obtain a more colourful education and training activities within this structure.
Yozgat Bozok University was established in 2006. Of course, as I mentioned before, its history dates back to 1994. It has a dynamic structure. It is a rapidly developing university. It is about to complete its infrastructure. With the city being a city with a population of 100 thousand, I would like to express that our students can have all kinds of opportunities. I would like to express that all kinds of needs that a student needs during the education process, from the library, hospital, cafes, accommodation, dormitories, are available here. In addition, the construction of high-speed train is about to be completed. Ankara- Sivas line passes through Yozgat. Therefore, it is determined as one hour between Ankara and Yozgat and approximately 5 hours between Istanbul and Yozgat. With this transport facility, which will be put into operation in April and May, students will be able to reach different cities much more easily. At the same time, Yozgat will have an airport in a short time. This can be considered as an important advantage for our university.
I would like to wish good luck to our candidates who will pass the university exam and I look forward to seeing, all of you, at Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences for a good education and training.
