Prof. Dr. Hamdi TEMEL. I am the director of the Institute of Graduate Education at Yozgat Bozok University. I graduated with two licence and two doctorate degrees.
As the Institute of Graduate Education, it is a structure formed by combining 3 institutes in 2021. At the moment, we really have one of the most beautiful and tidy buildings in Turkey. We are part of a graduate education institute programme formed by the merger of the institutes of science, health sciences and social sciences. Currently, the number of active master's students in our institute is 1471 and the number of doctoral students is 108. In our non-thesis master's programme, 314 students are actively continuing their programmes. So far, as the Institute of Graduate Studies, we have graduated 884 master's students, 82 non-thesis master's students, and 28 doctoral students.
As the Institute of Graduate Education, 332 faculty members as professor doctor, associate professor doctor and doctor lecturer support the Institute of Graduate Education programme.
As the Institute of Graduate Studies, as basic sciences and engineering sciences, we have really carried out very successful master's programmes with thesis so far. As basic sciences, we have doctoral programmes in some of our main disciplines in the Faculty of Engineering. These programmes have really achieved very important successes throughout Turkey. As the Institute of Graduate Studies, we have 45 main disciplines. As part of our 45 main disciplines, we have 79 master's and doctoral programmes with and without thesis.
So far, we are in negotiations with several different universities as the Institute of Graduate Education, and we are trying to make agreements with them. We started to provide agreements with exchange programs for graduate students. However, we have written TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) projects as a bilateral cooperation with other countries, including several different professors and myself. If these are accepted, our graduate students will go to different universities with these projects and do academic studies there.
We attach importance to quality in master's and doctoral programmes, because master's and doctoral students are the professors of the future. At this point, we try to take very good and high quality students. In most of our departments, both written exams and oral exams are held. As an institute, we try to take part in every exam so that we can have better quality exams. We are interested in the problems of each student. When our students petition us with a different situation, we respond to the petition of each student and mobilise all the opportunities we can to provide a quality education. We see that especially our students of engineering origin in the Faculty of Engineering are very successful. They have brought quality to our postgraduate education with their studies and their harmony with our lecturers, and they have been useful in the units they have worked in. This is very important for us. Especially Yozgat region is a place where industry is developing. At this point, we attach great importance to the theses of our friends with engineering background, we want them to carry out very high quality studies and we support them in this regard. In addition, the studies of our friends in basic sciences have also brought success at the international level and we see that they have received many different awards. Especially when we look at Web of Science resources, we see that they are incredibly cited. We also publish such successful studies on our website.
We want to show that we value both our professors and our students. As another profile, our students who graduated from the faculty of pharmacy have started to participate in our institute in these years. They are both improving themselves and we see that they have started to work on their own, especially alternative medicine, in addition to their pharmacies. We see that our students, especially from the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty of Education, who have master's and doctorate degrees, make an incredible contribution to their institutions after graduating from their master's and doctorate programmes. As the Institute of Graduate Studies, we have opened and will continue to open master's and doctoral programmes in some very important branches in Turkey, such as artificial intelligence and nanotechnology research centres to train scientists. Especially here, as the Institute of Graduate Education, we would like to emphasise this; we are considering opening master's and doctoral programmes that will appeal to this region and be beneficial to this region. In addition, Bozok University is really a developing university. Our faculty members here are also valuable professors who love to work and are diligent. We want to benefit from their energy. We want to make projects that we can work together at international level, especially in European Union projects. In addition, as the BAP (Scientific Research Projects) Unit, we have very good support programmes within quality master's and doctoral programmes. For example, there are 20 thousand liras of master's degree support for the quality theses of our students in the master's programme, and up to 30 thousand liras of doctoral thesis support for doctoral students.
We tell our students that we are a young and dynamic university. At this point, since there is a faculty member profile that is hungry for success, when our students decide to choose us, their path will be very open. Because the lecturer is working. Since the lecturer is working, the student will work harder. This will create a synergy in success. At this point, we say prefer us.
