Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design
Hello, friends, I am a senior student at the Faculty of Fine Arts Design and Architecture, in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Başkent University. Today I will provide you with some information about the department. The interior designer is a person, who designs the living areas of the living creatures. In general, if I had to tell you about my courses, I would say: we take design studio course every semester and, other than this, we also take courses such as technical drawing, furniture, modular design. We have design, construction materials, CNC studios in our faculty. Our first internship is a construction internship, we will practice there. Our second internship is an office internship. Here we learn about the sector and gain some information on how we can advance in professional life. Our final projects continue theoretically and practically. We make our final project in three dimensions. After graduation, we can work in public institutions and private sector as well as in the fields of construction materials and design. Friends, another friend of mine, who is studying in our department, will briefly talk about his experiences he lived through at Başkent University.
Hello, friends. My name is Kaan Dogan, I am a senior student at the Faculty of Fine Arts Design and Architecture at Başkent University. I study with the merit scholarship in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. One of the reasons for choosing the Department of Interior Architecture is my interest in and love of design. I really wanted to do this job. I usually prefer to work not by memorizing and not by working under some formula, but by presenting my own ideas and solutions. Although it is one of all the features of the department, I preferred the Department of Interior Architecture because of it. Why I chose Başkent University: Başkent University has 1,500 academicians within it. Academicians in my department are usually well-known people. I've researched on these people in advance, so I am aware of what they worked on. I preferred this university, because it is valuable and rich in terms of academic staff. Compared to other international universities, at Başkent University the number of academicians per person is higher than the average. It works like that in my department. You can always reach teachers when you have a problem. What I benefited from while studying in the department: I benefited most from the academic staff. Academicians do not work with an appointment system, you can knock on their doors at any time, except for the class hours. We have a library with rich resources. There are study rooms in the library we can work individually and as a group. By specifying the date and the time in advance, we can easily spend the whole day in a room reserved for us. We usually have to make models in the design studio classes, and the models we build are too big to move. That is why we have to stay at the university. Başkent University offers us the opportunity to study there till the morning. I am graduating this year, my goal is to do masters abroad. I will probably write a thesis on renewable energy. After that I think that I should work for a while in a private firm and learn the market better. Then I want to start my own company and continue my business life at home or abroad. I have the following suggestion to my friends who would prefer the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design: I recommend that you further improve your visual memories. Viewing the pictures of the new works of the designers, just the way they view the pictures in the social media, as well as the examinations of the structures will help them solve problems in the future. Before the installation of the drawing programs on your computer, I would recommend that you take a look at them. I would always recommend that you check the settings on the menus and take a look at the related training materials on the internet. You can easily find the names of these programs. If you already know a few of them, you'll be one step ahead. I would like to wish good luck to prospective students who are thinking of joining this department at my university.
