Faculty of Law
Hi! I am Beril Bakir, I am a second year student at the Faculty of Law. The Faculty of Law was founded in 1997; I mean it is a faculty with 20 years of experience education. Our department gives us quality education with its large and experienced academic staff. There are civil law, obligations law, family law, law of succession and law of property courses offered in the field of private law; in the field of public law, there are constitutional law, administrative law and criminal law courses. There are elective courses on informational technology law, tax law, law of foundations, and law of child act. We have applied law and forensic medicine courses at the 4th grade. If we want to become registered lawyer to the bar association after completing our undergraduate education, we have a one-year internship period. I have to read a lot of books because of the department courses, I often use the library. We have a law society as a professional community in the department. We often organize fictional interviews in the fictional courtroom. The law department is a department that will always be needed in Turkey, in the world considering people's relations or their social lives. After completing our undergraduate studies, it is possible for us to work as a registered lawyer to the law association, judge, prosecutor, legal consultant and intermediary. In the following section, another friend of ours will briefly talk about the experiences she got while she was studying law at Başkent University.
Hello, there! I am Damla İlbaş, I am a senior student at the Faculty of Law at Başkent University. I was actually a science student in high school, but then I thought and decided that the profession that I would do in the future should be about people. In other words, I thought that the study area should be humans. For this reason, the most convenient field was actually law because it is a field where you can help people and communicate individually. So I preferred the faculty of law. In particular, the reason why I chose Başkent University was the academic staff. We study a lot of books during the undergraduate studies at the department of Law, and we will refer to these books again after we graduate and become a lawyer or a judge. The authors of these books are very famous and they are recognized as masters in the field of law. We can take courses from these academicians at the Faculty of Law. Therefore, this was the most important reason for choosing Başkent University. Başkent University offers many opportunities for students, one of which as the most important one is free services, I think. This is a great advantage because we are able to commute to school from many of the parts of Ankara whenever we want for free. Apart from that, the university has a large library and there is a 24-hour lounge in the library. You can spend time and work in the library every day of the day. In addition, there is a soup service in the library. So, when you work late at night, you can also have soup and fill your stomach. I think the most important facility of the faculty is the court room. In this courtroom, we perform fictional trials several times a year. During the fictional trials, we practically learn where to enter a courtroom, how to get out, when to talk, who to talk to. So, in fact, we get theoretical information throughout the undergraduate education and we apply it in this courtroom. After graduation, first of all, my first aim is to do my internship and get a lawyer certificate. Later, I am going to a graduate school in Europe and I aim to be a lawyer working in international law when I come back. Students who will prefer Başkent University should not worry about how they can get to the Faculty of Law on Bağlıca Campus because there are free shuttle buses from many different points. Other than that, if they are thinking of studying at the department of law, they must love reading, dealing with people and they must be interested in communicating with people. I advise them to fully concentrate on this field. On this campus, law students will take theoretical major area courses as well as field-related courses such as forensic medicine, economics, and computer literacy especially to develop their general knowledge. So, students should not think that when they will only take law courses. They can many different courses areas to improve their general knowledge.
