Pharmacy Services Program

I am Zehra Özden Erdoğan, an Assistant Professor in the Pharmacy Services Programme. Pharmacy Services Programme is a 2-year associate degree programme. In our program, we aim to train pharmacy technicians who have internalised national values, can follow scientific, technological and current developments, and who can take part in pharmacy services. Our Pharmacy Services Programme is located in the Bağlum Campus of Yuksek Ihtisas University. In our programme, besides pharmacy courses such as Pharmacology, Practical Drug Knowledge, Toxicology, courses related to chemistry such as Biochemistry, Chemistry and General Chemistry are also given. We have two application laboratories in our programme. In one of our laboratories, we have devices such as PH meters and weighing devices. We prepare solutions and perform liquid medicine preparation processes. In our other application laboratory, we have devices such as a centrifuge and a spectrophotometer. In this laboratory, we train our students through experimental studies such as determination of drug active ingredients and substances. At the end of the first year, our students are required to complete a 20-day summer internship. They can serve their summer internships in private pharmacies and hospital pharmacies. Our policy about summer internships is that there has to be a pharmacist at the institution where they perform it, and no interruption should occur during the process. All interns should comply with this policy as a condition of graduation. Our students who graduate from our associate degree programme can work in institutions such as private pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical warehouses and drug factories. The Pharmacy Services Programme is very new and up to date with every emerging trend in the field. Our programme can be preferred due to the fact that the business area is very wide for now and it is open to development. Yuksek Ihtisas University has young and dynamic academic staff members. Our academic staff constantly develop themselves and follow scientific and technological advancements closely. We here aim to prepare our students for their professional life and improve themselves with the most up-to-date knowledge and scientific studies, which constitutes the fundamental mission of our programme. We have application laboratories in our programme, allowing our students to prepare the medicines, which can be seen as a preliminary study to professional life. Also, we provide our students with the most recent training. Our students benefit from the training and laboratory facilities the most. The aim of our graduates is to work in hospital pharmacies. Some of our students aim to proceed to undergraduate programs by taking the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). In our programme, our students are provided with technical and professional knowledge so that they can develop into well rounded individuals and mature professionals, and besides, thanks to the laboratory facilities, certain methods are taught to find solutions to the problems they may encounter in business life. We think that we will be able to meet and provide the necessary infrastructure, technical and professional knowledge to overcome the difficulties that students who will prefer our program may encounter in business life. For this reason, candidates who are thinking of choosing our programme and university can prefer Yuksek Ihtisas University Pharmacy Services Programme with a peace of mind.
