Opticianry Program
Hello. My name is Sevcan Utaş Cobuloğlu. I am the Head of the Opticianry Programme. In our programme, one assistant professor, two lecturers, one optician carries out educational activities. In our university's Opticianry Programme, students theoretically study Mathematics, Physics, Vision Optics, Geometric Optics, while they practically attend the Optical Instruments and practical studies conducted in our laboratory for 3 semesters. Additionally, in order to develop the skills of social, academic and cultural competence, our students take courses such as Entrepreneurship and Glass Technologies as well as Communication Skills, Sign Language and Painting as elective courses. Our students are obliged to serve a summer internship for 20 working days at the end of the first year in existing stores. Opticianry is a profession that can constantly improve itself and prepare for the future with its developing product technologies and increasing product variety. This is thus one of the first reasons to be preferred. Another reason it is preferred is that our students can open their own institutions as soon as they graduate. Apart from that, they can work as responsible managers at existing optic shops or work as an optician in factories where optical instruments are produced. In addition, students who want to progress in academia can proceed to Physics, Physics Engineering, Optics and Acoustic Engineering programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). Yuksek Ihtisas University is a university with many academicians who are experienced in the field of health and dedicated to their profession. Our students who want to determine their own profession, improve in the field of health and graduate fully equipped can choose our university. Students in our programme will be able to benefit from experienced faculty staff and facilities such as fully-equipped opticianry laboratory and library. Moreover, they can take part in activities with student communities, play games and do other activities in community rooms. Considering the opportunities on the basis of profession, we can say that thanks to our visits to production facilities and factories, they can find the chance to improve themselves by participating in events such as seminars and workshops at our university in the coming years. Upon graduation, our students aim to open their own optic stores after improving themselves in the field for a while. Some of our students may choose to progress in the academic direction by completing their department or master's. As Yuksek Ihtisas University Opticianry Programme, we suggest that the candidates should first of all know themselves well, and that they should choose a profession in which they are happy, peaceful and feel good. We wish every success to the candidates who would prefer the Opticianry Programme at Yuksek Ihtisas University.
