Electroneurophysiology Program
Hi. I am Ayşegül Usta, the Head of the Department of Electroneurophysiology at Yuksek Ihtisas University. Our programme accepted its first students in the 2017-2018 academic year. Our lessons are carried out at Bağlum Campus. The main purpose of our programme is to train electrophysiology technicians who perform image capturing procedures on Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), and evoked potentials needed for the diagnosis and treatment plans of illnesses which are caused by damage to the central and peripheral nervous systems. Introductory courses to the field, are given in the first year alongside the fundamental load courses. These are followed by courses related to applied electrophysiological diseases in the second year. Our laboratory which has the EEG and EMG devices is located in Bağlum Campus. The applications of our departmental courses are carried out in this laboratory. Once the students complete their compulsory summer internship at the end of the first year, along with the compulsory vocational practice 1 and vocational practice 2 courses which are taken in the autumn and spring semesters of the second year, and finally the courses which require practice they are finished with everything. Graduates are given the title of Electrophysiology Technician. Upon graduation, students can gravitate towards different areas. Some of our graduates can work in specialist physicians' offices and private hospitals straight after graduation. Some students study for the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) in order to work in public hospitals, while others prefer to continue with their education by topping up their associate degree to a bachelor degree by taking the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). Having professors with field experience, intensive practice opportunities, and laboratory conditions which are actively and properly used provide a great advantage for students. Since we are a programme that gives education in the field of health, we should not forget that we work with people. For this reason, we welcome students who are devoted, who have high empathy, and an openness for self-improvement and learning. I wish all the candidates who are planning on choosing the Electroneurophysiology Programme of the Yuksek Ihtisas University the best of luck.
