Hi, I'm Güldeniz Şekerci. Between 2019 and 2021, I completed my master's degree with thesis at Inonu University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Physiology. Afterwards, I continued my doctoral education as a 100/2000 Doctoral fellowship of YÖK (Higher Education Council) under the guidance of Professor Suat Tekin. The Institute of Health Sciences was founded in 1992. The Institute of Health Sciences, located on the central campus of Inonu University, aims to train scientists who are engaged in national and international education and research in the field of health, who are committed to their ethical values, competitive, innovative and in line with human values. Our institute, which provides postgraduate education in the field of health, provides postgraduate trainings in the fields of Medicine, Pharmacy, Child Development, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Physical Education and Sports. In this context, we offer 70 graduate programs including 28 doctorates, 41 master's degrees with thesis and 1 master's without thesis. We currently have 610 graduate students, 306 in doctorate and 304 in master's programs. Our institute has graduated 907 students since its establishment. We think that these numbers will increase day by day and our number of graduates will increase. We have a total of 58 research laboratories that are taught within İnonu University Institute of Health Sciences. These laboratories serve both undergraduate students and students who are continuing their education within the Institute of Health Sciences. As students of the Institute of Health Sciences, we benefit from tennis courts, football courts, basketball courts, as well as student cafeterias, canteens and cafeterias located on the campus of Inonu University. In addition, we use the free bicycle application located on the campus of Inonu University.
The Institute of Health Sciences carries out International studies. In order to take this to a further level, Orpheus membership has been awarded as of March 10, 2021. Orpheus is a program aimed at advancing and improving the implementation of doctoral programs in the fields of biomedical and health sciences. It is also a program that will help increase the proficiency of students graduating from Doctoral programs. Orpheus is an international organization that includes higher education institutions. I'd also like to talk about the advantages of the Orpheus program. The Orpheus program actually shows us the evidence of perfectionism. It will contribute to the development of the future career of PhD students. The Orpheus program will also increase international mobility by providing international recognition. Another advantage of the Orpheus program is that it will provide us with a variety of scholarship opportunities. Planning joint studies in the international field will also provide an advantage in terms of the emergence of joint doctoral programs. Among the reasons I prefer the Institute of Health Sciences is that it is an innovative and student-centered institute. In addition, the undergraduate teachers within our institute are also respected and experienced professors in the field. That's one of the reasons why I preferred this institute. Another reason is the current location of our institute and the high possibilities of the research laboratory. Inonu University is a university that has proven itself in terms of education and is a university with a high quality of education. However, it is also a university that has proven itself academically and with its studies in the field of health. The value given to both undergraduate and graduate students is one of the reasons why I preferred Inonu University. Inonu University is a university where social activities and student clubs are attached with great importance. At the same time, there are a lot of foreign students. This is important for the cultural interaction of individuals. At the same time, our university and institute, which has an advanced technological infrastructure, also has a large number of laboratories. This will also provide an advantage for the students who will prefer it. It is possible to say that our institute, which has applied for Orpheus membership, will increase its work internationally. I can say with confidence that our institute, which has a good academic infrastructure, can be preferred by students.
