Mechanical Engineering
I am Professor Ahmet Kolip. In order to increase the knowledge, manners and skills of our students, we organize technical trips regardless of the year difference among the students. Our university allocates free vehicles for these technical trips. Our department students can do Double Major Program in Mechatronics Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering departments. Our department is the first and the only technology faculty in Turkey which has MÜDEK (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) accreditation. This also means that we have the engineering education standards of Europe. We are proud of this. In addition to their academic studies and educational activities, our department’s professors also provide consultancy services to the industries in our region. In our department, we generally teach courses related to basic science and engineering in 1st and 2nd grades. Vocational courses are mainly given in the 3rd and 4th grades. From the vocational courses, I mean Thermal Systems and Mechanical Systems. While courses such as heating, ventilation, heating, air conditioning and cooling are included in thermal systems; mechanical systems include courses such as machine elements, design, calculation, drawing and analysis. We have computer laboratories that are used for technical drawing and drawing purposes in the first grade and for analysis in the last years. Our students can benefit from these opportunities as much as they want. Our students obtain measurement and other basic workshop knowledge in our basic workshop. We have devices available for the use of our students in our workshops, which are used in experiments on the engine, thermal systems and mechanical systems. Our students can easily benefit from there.
The students of our department have to do an internship for 40 working days in public and private enterprises approved by the internship commission. Our students have to do 2 projects for their graduation projects, one Mechanical Engineering Design Project and one Graduation Project. They have to work on thermal systems in one of these two projects and on mechanical systems in the other. Our prepared projects should be prepared to meet the 7 criteria of MÜDEK (Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association). We pay particular attention to this. Students of our department can benefit from student exchange programs such as Erasmus, Mevlana and Farabi. Our department is in close communication with professional organizations. In 2019, we held a maintenance symposium with the Sakarya branch of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers. Our students who graduate from our department can find job opportunities in the public and private sectors. If they wish, they can also work freely by establishing their own offices. Our department has all kinds of opportunities that students are looking for in terms of preferability. We are extremely good in terms of our teaching staff. Vocational trainings, internships, 7+1 workplace training and practice and our MÜDEK accreditation are our prominent factors in terms of our appeal. I would like to tell the candidates who want to choose our department from outside Sakarya that Sakarya is a very beautiful country. I can say that it is very beautiful in terms of its nature. There are many public and private housing options that are very close to the university. Our university has a canteen and catering services. If our students wish, they can join different student societies and take part in social and cultural studies in those societies. We invite students who want to study engineering to Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
