Medicine
Hello, I'm Gökhan Koç. I am a 6th grade student at Namık Kemal University, Faculty of Medicine. Namık Kemal University, Faculty of Medicine is established to provide medical education. Our training consists of primarily pre-clinical training, then clinical training, and the last year internship training. While taking courses such as Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, Microbiology, History of Medicine, Ethics, which are basic sciences courses in his pre-clinical education, various branches such as Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery, which are clinical courses, are repeatedly taught to us. It is aimed to give a good education. In the 6th grade, internship training, which includes only practical applications, is given as a sum of all of them. We have medical biochemistry, medical genetics, medical biology, medical pathology, medical microbiology and medical anatomy laboratories. In these laboratories, we are practicing the practical applications of the theoretical courses we teach. We have the chance to practice what we have taught in the anatomy laboratories with various models and cadavers. We see how microbiological creatures in the courses in microbiology laboratories are produced and how they look. With the experiments we conduct in the biochemistry laboratory, we learn how the biochemistry studies we apply in our hospital are carried out. In the medical genetics laboratory, we have the chance to learn how the techniques used in medical genetics are made and apply them practically. After the pre-clinical training, we have 2 years of clinical internship training. We have main internships, primarily in the form of long internships, especially in grades 4 and 5. Then we have our remaining internships requirements in the 5th grade, which are in the form of short internships. After that, we provide uninterrupted practical training in the 6th grade for 1 year without theoretical training. After graduating from our department, I can work in any specialty I will gain by taking the TUS (Medical Specialization Exam). In addition, I can work in family health centers after completing my compulsory duty as a general practitioner after I finish school. My department was my childhood dream. I always wanted to be a doctor, so I chose it. One of the biggest factors that made me choose Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University was its proximity to the city I live in, Istanbul. In addition, I chose Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Faculty of Medicine because I believe that I can find more opportunities since it is a newly established school. I aim to specialize in a surgical science after graduation. I think our university's proximity to Istanbul is a great advantage. Being so close to Istanbul, Turkey's gateway to the world for various congresses and social events, means being so close to these events and congresses. In addition to this, although our newly established school has some disadvantages, I think we are a more effective school in terms of communication compared to large universities. I believe that the chance to communicate with all of our teachers in a very easy way is very valuable. With the small number of people and high technical facilities, there are no technical problems during the training. For example, in my practical applications in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, I had the opportunity to access all kinds of devices in every course by myself. For example, since our laboratories have the opportunity to use 1 microscope per person, we have the chance to learn everything seriously and progress. I wish success to the students who will choose Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Faculty of Medicine.
