Computer Engineering
Hi, I'm Associate Professor Ercan Buluş. Head of the Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Çorlu Faculty of Engineering, Computer Engineering Department. Our master's program was established in the 2018-2019 academic year. We don't have a shortage of quotas. In our department, an associate's degree program is implemented the first 2 years, a bachelor's degree for the next 2 years, and a master's degree for the next 2 years. Mathematics, physics and fundamental computer information is provided in associate degree education. New subjects are introduced in the third and fourth grades. Content on artificial intelligence, hardware, software, cybercrime is also provided here. We currently have 2 large and operational laboratories, the Software Laboratory and Hardware Laboratory. Our software laboratory consists of two compartments, one with the capacity of 55 people, and the other for 60 people. We create software for windows systems. We try to provide software related content like database applications. We try to create applications in these software laboratories. In our hardware laboratory, we focus on "embedded systems" . We experiment with kits such as Raspberry and Arduino. We conduct heat, humidity measurements. In order for students to graduate from our department, they have to do an internship for 60 workdays. Excluding the first year, they can do it during the holiday periods of the 2nd and 3rd and 4th years. They can complete their internships by dividing them into two or three. We have a graduation project for seniors. We call them 'Project 1' and 'Project 2'. We carry out projects like system analysis and computer applications. For example, one of our students did a project on Arduino. I posted it on the Linkedin platform. Our fourth-grade students have the opportunity to work in the industry for 3 days and experience working in the field. They attend classes for 2 days. For now, the feedback we've received is positive, we think we will continue this practice. Our department has been participating in Erasmus projects for a long time. We realize student exchanges within the scope of Erasmus Program. We actively exchange academics and students with countries such as Poland, Bulgaria and Macedonia within the Erasmus program with European countries. Every year, a meeting is held with the heads of computer departments. These are called "UBMK" meeting. In 2016, we had the chance to hold this meeting as a department and I think we were successful. Nowadays, they try to divide the computer engineering department into different sections, however, I think that will not happen. The work opportunities for students who graduate from this department is quite a lot. Our graduates can work as system analysts, cybersecurity staff, database managers, network analysts, network administrators. It is imperative that the students who choose our department have a good command of English and mathematics. For some reason, people think that they can undertake this task without any math related knowledge. Don't be fooled. If you don't have a good math background and a command of English, you won't get good grades in this department. We advise you to learn mathematics and English, particularly English. Because Microsoft is an American company. In order to work with companies like them, it is essential that you know English. Students who want to become computer engineers should get used to spending a long time on screen. You should not spend a lot of time working on one single problem. There are always many job opportunities for hardworking students. I've even noticed many students coming from other universities to work here. Why shouldn't our students work harder? And for that, we need students firtst. We're waiting for you.
