Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities

I am Professor Mustafa Çevik. I completed my undergraduate education at Marmara University. I completed my doctorate education at Ankara University. After my doctorate, I was a visiting professor at Oxford University for a while. I am currently working as the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Social Sciences University of Ankara. My fields of study are Philosophy of History, Philosophy of Education, and Philosophy of Social Sciences. There are seven departments in our faculty. Within these departments, four are active. The Department of Sociology, Psychology and History teaches 100% in English. Turkish Language and Literature Department provides education in Turkish. Media Communication Department, Philosophy Department and Anthropology Department provide support to other departments at graduate and undergraduate level. In these departments, preparations are made for student recruitment. Of course, in addition to the courses available at the international and national levels in our departments, various courses specific to the thematic structure of our university are offered. While choosing our courses, we determine what kind of needs there may be for the professional applications of social sciences in the future and provide elective courses for that field. Our students can take courses from other departments of the university as well as from other departments of the faculty. Our departments have minor and double major agreements with almost many departments. In this sense, we offer a wide range of education opportunities to our students. We do not have any graduate students yet. We have students who will graduate from next year onwards. Our general philosophy on thesis and graduation projects is more practical. We have an understanding of increasing students' everyday and professional skills.Like every university, there are national and international cooperation, student and faculty exchange programs determined by Erasmus and YÖK. But in addition to these, we have the potential to make agreements and cooperation with many institutions for education and practice abroad, since many of our instructors have overseas experience. Our university is a thematic university. Although we are a university in the field of social sciences, we are also a university that focuses on practice. Therefore, we think that students who will choose us will not come here for classical educational purposes. We teach in a historical place. We provide training in the city. We are a university without transportation problems. In this respect, we think that students can easily prefer our university. Apart from this, we try to support students, in terms of having new experiences, by directing them to the applications of institutions. Students have many reasons to choose our faculty. The fact that our university is located in Ankara is a major reason. Our academic staff is highly experienced and qualified. In our opinion, we have an educational staff with good standards. Apart from this, we oblige every student who will choose our departments at our university to learn a second foreign language. We are a multilingual university. We encourage students to learn a second foreign language, not just English. Thus, the students can have an understanding of education in an international vision. We also carry out applications in the field of social sciences in cooperation with institutions in Ankara. In this way, we try to ensure that students can receive education within the application. I wish success to all students who will take the exam. We know that there are important reasons for them to choose us.
