My name is Rümeysa Ergin. I am a graduate of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Department of Psychology and Faculty of Islamic Sciences. After I graduated, I pursued a master's program with thesis at the same university in the field of Philosophy and Religious Sciences. Currently, I am an active student of Ankara Social Sciences University Doctorate Program. Philosophy and Religious Studies Programs are the fields that want to establish a relationship of theology fields with humanities. In this context, it aims to integrate the fields of philosophy, history and sociology with the fields of theology. Our program offers Master's and Doctorate Education with Thesis. Since our university is located in Ulus, the center of Ankara, our campus is conveniently located in terms of easy transportation for students. Compulsory Research Methods and Publication Ethics courses are given in the Philosophy and Religious Sciences Doctorate Program. At the same time, elective courses such as Mental Health and Religion, Classical Human Philosophy Texts, History of Judaism, Research Traditions in the Psychology of Religion are offered. Students must successfully complete at least 7 courses and the thesis in order to graduate. In order to graduate from these programs, students must submit their theses and these theses must be successful. Students who meet the requirements are eligible for graduation. Master's and doctorate programs do not aim to provide a profession. The aim of these programs is to make people more proficient in their fields. They can pursue these programs in order to become more qualified in their fields and also to become a part of the academic staff.
I chose this program because I am a graduate of Psychology and Islamic Sciences and also because I want to pursue an academic career. I chose Social Sciences University of Ankara because of its expert teaching staff. Also, the ease of transportation was a big factor for choosing here. Since the doctoral program is much more intensive, it is valuable to be able to reach bookstores and libraries whenever you want. This has been a priority for me. Philosophy and Religious Studies Program is human-centered and it is important that students who receive education in this field should interact with people. In this context, since our campus is located in the city center, observing the people around makes it easier to conduct academic studies. For me, these are the most important opportunities offered by our university. I want to pursue an academic career after graduation. I want to make good publications by achieving the competence to teach in this field. I think this comprehensive program will improve my academic skills. Students who choose the Philosophy and Religious Studies Program need a high score in language and ALES exams. At the same time, students need to develop themselves within the scope of their fields. Within the scope of the doctoral program, they need to develop themselves in order to write a good thesis and make a good publication. I can clearly say that the students who will come to the program should be open to continuous work and self-development. I would recommend students who will prefer Social Sciences University of Ankara to improve their language skills. Students with a high language score and proficiency will be much more advantageous both during their education and thesis process. I wish good luck to all students who will take the university exam.
