Hello, I’m Prof. Dr. Taha Niyazi KARACA. I am the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Yozgat Bozok University.
Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences was established in 1995 as a part of Erciyes University. It started to recruit students in 1996 and has been continuing its education life by employing students and educating its students for 26 semesters. Our faculty is one of the largest faculties of Yozgat Bozok University, both in terms of student capacity and teaching staff capacity.
Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences continues its education life with 11 departments. The course capacity of each of the science and social departments has been determined in line with the opinions of internal and external stakeholders. Especially in line with the scales determined by FEDEK, the Faculty of Science and Literature Evaluation Accreditation Association, our departments shape their courses and curricula and aim to provide the best specialisation levels of our students in their fields. In this direction, the course performance of each department aims to ensure that our students are fully engaged in life and to strengthen the success of our students in life. Therefore, all the courses of our departments have been determined in accordance with the scale of the Faculty of Science and Literature Accreditation Association.
Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences has a vast range of laboratory facilities that our students will benefit from. With our 37 laboratories, there is a physical environment where our students, especially our science department students, can easily complete, perform and perform their education. Apart from this, the study environments, classrooms and lecture halls that will enable our students to study constitute the physical infrastructure of our faculty. Beyond this, our faculty has a canteen and physical infrastructure where students can easily establish dialogue with each other. Again, the faculty of science and literature is a faculty that provides physical infrastructure for our disabled students, especially within the scope of the disabled unit and disabled studies, including two flags. Our faculty of science and literature is one of the faculties with the largest physical infrastructure of Yozgat Bozok University, established on 3 blocks with a capacity of 14,000 square metres. I can say that it has a physical infrastructure that can meet almost every need of our students.
In our faculty, our students do not have an internship obligation, but each department has its students do a graduation thesis starting from the fourth year. This is a complete research project. Our student, who brings the project received from his teacher into a thesis format, gains the opportunity to graduate after presenting it. Apart from this, we do not have any obligation. Each department of Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences has made agreements with various countries in line with its own needs, especially integrated into the ERASMUS programme. For example, our faculty has ERASMUS agreements with countries such as Italy, Greece, Estonia, Latvia and Sweden and our students can participate in student exchange programmes with various countries in this direction.
Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences meets 80% of the social activities of our university with its social activities. In this direction, it also carries out very large organisations. For example, it has organised international comprehensive congresses with three major organisations in 2016 and 2018. In 2016 and 2018, the Yozgat Bozok symposiums series and the international organisation organised with the Atatürk Research Centre in 2018 are really one of the major organisations in Yozgat.
In this respect, Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences is a faculty that actively takes part in all kinds of activities. In addition, our academicians participate in international events at different universities. In this context, they are actively involved in international exchange and international social activity programmes.
Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences students have job opportunities after graduation in line with the departments they graduated from. For example, a chemistry graduate has the opportunity to find a job as a chemist in both state institutions and private institutions, and a history department graduate has the right to be a teacher, but also has the right to work in state archives or different state institutions. In this respect, the employment areas of the graduates of our faculty have a very wide range. Each of them has the situation of being employed somewhere according to the needs of the place where they graduated in line with their specialisation areas.
Of course, the courses that our students have difficulty with vary according to the departments of our faculty, as it has many different departments. However, such a convenience is provided: Through both Yozgat Bozok University Continuing Education Centre and student clubs, the courses that students need are opened as additional courses. For example, when English is requested, English courses are offered at the Continuing Education Research Centre or through student clubs and they try to be beneficial to their student friends. In other words, this is a policy implemented by our university in general. These are the courses that our students have access to at very low fees. Apart from this, we have a course programme called Bozok Academy. There, courses are given to our students in the areas that are completely needed. Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Arts and Sciences has a knowledge and experience of more than a quarter of a century. The faculty of science and literature, which has a very strong teaching staff, has undertaken a mission to educate our students very well. In this direction, our student clubs and lecturers work in a certain harmony. My recommendations to the students who will prefer here; I would like them to examine our student clubs, to determine the activities of our student clubs, and to be actively involved in social and academic activities within the student clubs if they come here. In addition, since Yozgat Bozok University has geography located in the heart of Anatolia, our students who will come here will have the opportunity to easily reach many cities in the north, east, west and south directions. Again, in line with the opportunities provided by our university, our students will have the opportunity to participate in activities and events in various provinces and will improve themselves. Our university and faculty have a very large library. Books, library facilities, working environments are in the direction that will allow them to fully develop. I especially recommend that our students carefully examine the web page of our university and faculty before coming here and follow the opportunities that our university will provide for them and benefit from these opportunities when they come here.
