Hi. My name is Eyüp ULUGÖL and I graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in the Department of Information and Records Management in 2009. Since 2012, I have been working as a librarian at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. I am currently pursuing my graduate education in the same field. Our university library was established in 2008, coinciding with the founding of our university, and initially spanned an area of 280 square meters with seating capacity for approximately 70 people. In 2014, we relocated to our current building, which boasts a spacious indoor area of 6000 square meters with seating capacity for 815 people across four distinct halls.We have two halls dedicated exclusively to books, one hall for periodicals and magazines, and another hall that serves as a study area for up to 250 people. Additionally, we have a 24/7 study hall that accommodates 36 people, a cafeteria that can seat 60 people, and an internet center for 20 people. Our library also features two prayer rooms. We provide six group study rooms that can accommodate up to 8 people each, as well as the option for students to use the cafeterias for group work, which is a popular choice among our students.The majority of our library's resources are electronic, with approximately 68,000 printed books and 21,000 printed magazines in our collection. In addition, our students have access to approximately 38,000 electronic journals and 330,000 e-books through our library, which can be easily accessed on campus without requiring any additional settings. We also offer proxy service for off-campus access, allowing our students and staff to access electronic resources by activating their student or personnel email accounts and setting up proxy settings accordingly.Our library has a dedicated webpage accessible through the university's website, as well as a mobile library application available on both the Playstore and Appstore. Through these platforms, students can view announcements, information, and track their loan return transactions and book request processes. Our website also offers catalog scanning service, electronic resource service, consultation services, and multiple communication channels. We have a frequently asked questions section where we collect and regularly update answers to common inquiries from our students.At Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, all members, including academic and administrative staff, graduate and doctoral students, as well as undergraduate and associate degree students, have different loan periods and extension rights. Academic and administrative staff, graduate, and doctoral students can borrow up to 10 books at a time for a period of 30 days, with the option to extend twice online. After returning the borrowed book, they can borrow it again. Undergraduate and associate degree students can borrow up to 5 books for a period of 20 days, with the option to extend twice online.Since last year, our library has also been open to external users, whereas previously it was only open for work. A special directive for public personnel has been added, allowing external users to borrow up to 3 books for 20 days, with the option to extend twice.
