Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (BARUM),
Greetings, Associate Professor Şenay Balbay. I am the Vice Dean of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (BARUM). BARUM, established in 2011, serves as a hub for scientific studies and support for industrial organizations, involving academicians from our university as well as other universities. In 2017, BARUM obtained research status and was officially named the Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center. BARUM offers a wide range of services to support scientific research, including assistance with supplier issues, customer complaints, production problems, and analysis of R&D and product development studies for industrial organizations.
BARUM also plays a significant role in providing guidance to our undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, especially those studying in engineering and basic sciences, who require analytical services for their thesis studies. Our center's experts, along with our advisors and secretary, can provide students with essential information about the analysis requirements and conditions relevant to their thesis topics, helping them streamline their research process.
BARUM is equipped with advanced analytical instruments such as xardi, xari and sam analyses for material characterization analysis. Additionally, we offer chromatography-based analysis for determining organic structures, including support with gastromatography, mass spectrometry, HPLC, and LC-MS/MS devices. BARUM also specializes in the determination of ironic components in water through atomic absorption analysis. Our elemental analysis device is utilized for determining elements such as Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Sulfur in organic structures such as coal. We also have a bet analyzer for determining the pore structure of materials, especially relevant to colleagues working in the ceramic industry. Furthermore, our Helium Pycnometer is used for actual density analysis of materials, while our devices for FT-IR are employed for particle size determination, particularly for materials with powder properties, including nano and micro-particle sizes. BARUM also offers support in the analysis of the hardness and surface properties of metal materials using specialized devices like the Sitoro microscope.
