Natural Stone Application and Research Center

My name is Merve PAKSOY, and I work as an instructor at the Natural Stone Technologies Application and Research Center, where I also serve as vice president. The DAUM (Natural Stone Technologies Application and Research Center) was established in 2021 to fulfill the basic analysis and testing needs of the natural stone industry, one of our center's main fields of activity. Our center is equipped to perform various test activities, including physicomechanical tests, mineralogical and petrographic analyzes, all of which are essential to the natural stone sector. We also aim to meet the requirements of the "ISO 17025 standards" and continue our activities in this regard.
At the outset, our focus is on providing analysis and testing services that appeal to the sector. Our center's activities and studies are ongoing within the scope of university-industry cooperation, including meeting the mechanical and physical tests required by our graduate students and the faculty members who advise them. We also contribute scientifically and academically to the activities carried out within the framework of university-industry cooperation.
Our center also supports the natural stone sector's basic analysis and testing needs in the region. In doing so, we perform analyses on all types of natural stones according to international standards, providing academic support to postgraduate studies carried out in relevant university faculties, public institutions, and organizations working on natural stones, and legal persons requiring analysis and testing services. We also carry out scientific and technical studies within the framework of university-industry cooperation while supporting national and international scientific research and R&D projects related to natural stone and marble through analyses and measurements.
Currently, our center is implementing the "1700025 quality management system" in our laboratory, which we hope will enable our center to operate as an accredited test laboratory at both national and international levels, with analysis results that are valid worldwide. Our laboratory aims to contribute to both the country's economy and the scientific world through ongoing activities.
Our center also provides academic support to postgraduate studies carried out both in our university and other universities, in addition to its focus on meeting the needs of the natural stone sector. Our center continues both analysis and testing activities and training and R&D studies, working on natural stones outside the university. As a result, miners, other public institutions and organizations operating in the sector, and undergraduate and graduate students studying natural stones can all benefit from our center.
We support laboratory studies as part of the education carried out in relevant faculties or colleges within our university. Our center is also one of the few natural stone research and application centers in the region, making it an excellent place for students to conduct research and practical work at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
