Electroneurophysiology Programme

Hello, my name is Helensu Arslan and I am a 2nd year student in the Electroneurophysiology Programme. I am going to give you some information on this programme. In some people diseases occur through the disruption of the central and peripheral nervous system. In this programme, electroneurophysiology technicians are trained to identify and diagnose these diseases under the supervision of specialist physicians. Our training in this programme is located on the Balgat Campus of Ufuk University at the Dr. Rıdvan Ege Hospital. In this programme, besides basic physiology and anatomy courses, functional neuroimaging techniques, clinical electroneurophysiology applications, sensory evoked potentials and cognitive neurophysiology courses are given. Our courses at the Balgat Campus take place in class-specific laboratories. We also attend courses in the electroencephalography, the electroneuromyography and in the sleep units. At the end of the first year, we have a 30 workday summer internship. Our internship is carried out in the hospital of our school. We can do it in other hospitals, as well as the Dr. Rıdvan Ege Hospital. After completing this programme, we can work in neurology, in ear, nose and throat, in psychiatry, in paediatrics, in chest disease clinics and in sleep units. Since I trained as a radiology technician in high school and this department is related to electroneurophysiology techniques, I chose this programme. I chose this university because it was easy to reach. I use the library and all the other facilities of our school. At the same time, with the knowledge I get from my teachers—because our hospital and school are interwoven—I have the opportunity to make technical practice with real patients. After completing this department, I would like to study for the Vertical Transfer Examination and to study physiotherapy or nursing.
