Medical Imaging Techniques Programme
My name is Deniz Ezgi Özcan and I am a freshman student on the Ufuk University Medical Imaging Techniques Programme. The aim of the Medical Imaging Techniques Programme is to train the intermediate personnel needed for the diagnosis or the treatment of diseases determined by doctors utilising X-rays. The first year of the Medical Imaging Techniques Programme emphasises theoretical courses; the second year is more practical. In addition to basic courses such as Physiology, Anatomy, and First Aid, students take department-related courses such as Radiological Anatomy, Radiological Terminology, and Radiological Pharmacology. Students receive their radiological shooting techniques and practical training primarily in the Ufuk University Department of Radiology. Practical training such as Mammography, X-ray, Angio, and Panoramics are provided in this programme. Training for first-year students is once a week in the university hospital, while for second-year students it is four days a week. In addition, at the end of the first year, there is a 30-working day compulsory summer internship. After graduation, we can work as radiology technicians in public hospitals, in private hospitals, in private imaging centres, and in oral and dental health clinics. Medical imaging technicians are exposed to X-rays during their study. However, due to the development of personal protective equipment, the effects of X-rays are reduced greatly. In addition, because of occupational exposure, they are provided with an extra month of leave in addition to their annual leave. The reason I chose the Medical Imaging Techniques Programme is that it is a broad and comprehensive branch. I chose to study at Ufuk University because it has developed itself in the health sector and has a strong academic staff. The social facilities of our school are quite good. There is the library open 24/7, a swimming pool, gym, student societies, and various labs such as the anatomy lab and the microbiology lab. I actively use all of these. Since our school prioritises our graduates in terms of employment, I aim to work at the Rıdvan Ege Hospital. The presence of a hospital that supports my program has been a big influence on my decision for this program. I am proud to be a student of Ufuk University which has proven itself with its academic staff, physical equipment and its vision. I wish every success to those friends taking the entrance exam.
